Going to finish cleaning out a bed this morning and plant turnip seeds and lettuce transplants. I have a box of day lilies I ordered. That I need to plant also.
Then get ready to go to the city at noon for surgery at 3pm.

Temps going back up to triple digits by this weekend. Someone needs to talk to Mother Nature because this is ridiculous.
Watering the crepe myrtles now and took a few lemons off the tree last night.
All the bushes in the chicken yard are doing great. They had limited growth in summer but lived through it, now they're blooming. Still have a cage around the one the chickens like to eat but it has recovered nicely.
Moving the indoor garden to the back room this morning before work, too much sun where they are now.

What kind of bush is it that they like? I have been trying to get these guineas to forage. The 2 chickens that live with them are doing a much better job at it. They ate all the Virginia creeper i thought i was going to have to pull up.

14 pints of tomato soup in the jar today (started prepping them yesterday). Crock pot full of concord grapes, with an other bag to be cleaned and cooked. Hoping I can find someone with a food mill. I want to make jam, not jelly out of them.

Yet an other killing frost last night. 31.2 this morning after sun had started to rise. Lawn and windshields were white. Yet the BTE garden remains unscathed by frost.

A couple days ago I pulled the runners I'd potted last month. There are 56, that's around $200 at $3.50 a pot.

What kind of bush is it that they like? I have been trying to get these guineas to forage. The 2 chickens that live with them are doing a much better job at it. They ate all the Virginia creeper i thought i was going to have to pull up.

I think it might be a red bird of paradise. It's something drought tolerant and gets big enough to give decent shade but the chickens love it!

Hi everyone! Haven't been on for about a week, I think. Hope you're all doing well.

We're well into fall now here in Minnesota, but no frost yet, luckily. Our squash/pumpkins are still growing, but not full-sized yet. I doubt they're going to get much bigger before frost. We dug up some turnips and I made roasted root veggies with them. Yum! Will have to harvest the rest of them soon, along with the rutabagas and store in downstairs fridge (used like a root cellar). Lots of other veggies to harvest, too, but waiting as long as possible. We're probably going to get frost within a week or two, so won't be long now.

What are they? Strawberries? It's always nice to make a little extra $$$, especially doing something you like!

Yes, strawberries. I'll probably keep most of these. It is indeed. I started with eleven plants this may, they went nuts and I've now got about 100+ runners off them.
