What did you do in the garden today?

I did eat my first 2 Zucchini's today for dinner. Yum, Yum Good----sliced thin, battered and fried. First 2 cucumbers yesterday. Been eating a lot of broccoli, turnips, irish potatoes, cabbage, onions, etc. A few days ago, I caught a 4 3/4 lb bass out the pond, Cleaned/prepped it---fried it up with some sliced fresh potato's, had some broccoli and cheese on the side. Don't get much better than that---everything(except the cheese) we eat come off the farm. I like doing that, Some times I catch some fish and put some fresh vegetables(potatoes/onions/squash/peppers all cut up in a tin foil pan nest to the red coals of the open fire, and cook the fish over red coals in long handle baskets---right next to the garden/lake----that's the best!!!

Now, I'm getting jealous.

I have 1 tiny zucchini about the size of my little finger and my cucumbers aren't even thinking about doing anything yet! I do have a lot of small green, cherry tomatoes, but haven"t seen any large ones yet. The yellow neck squash is flowering, so they should start producing soon.

Did you plant your seeds outside? I can't imagine getting up like that for seeds.
I know the one freeze we got after my fruit trees bloomed worried me so I did not get much sleep. I did lose my last Nankin cherry. So I guess they are not that hardy.

No, that was for the chicks not seeds. :p I just covered my early tomatoes and let them be during the late freezes.

A volunteer watermelon. A gift from the pigs that ate my melon  At least they left a seed right? It's either a pure moon and stars or a cross between a moon and stars, Navajo winter or OrangeGlo.

I wept. :hit
It's been a cool and wet spring for us. Everything has been slow to germinate. Only about half of my four rows of corn came up so I was outside today filling in gaps with the only corn seed I have on hand after already replanting everything with pop corn seed. I figure the regular sweet corn will hopefully be done tassling about the time that the popcorn is starting to tassle so hopefully they won't cross pollinate. Of course before I finished....it was raining again!:duc

So far the only thing I have harvested from our garden is a bowl of mixed lettuce and a radish.....okay, I'm feeling the tears starting again.

Hey Micro I know this rain is making it tough on everyone trying to start seeds.
Yet others have corn that is already 5' here. Crazy! I hope my squash does not get the dreaded powdery mildew again this year.
