What did you do in the garden today?

My dog eats tennis balls, literally chews them apart. Even the bigger ones.

Chomper can mutilate a tennis ball in world record time but is an sweetheart around our kids. This is a pic I took after hub-one bottle fed one of our kids. Chompy walks up and gives him a gentle lick and says.. I've got your back little fellow!

Love goats! Once i finish the chicken coop i am going to build a goat shed!

Just spent about 3 hours in the garden filling the potato boxes and watering everything. Every day in this heat the plants droop down, the ground starts to crack even under the mulch and shaded from the leaves, I give them a good soak, and they perk back up.

The boxes are now about 2-3' full, mostly of wet hay with the occasional layer of dirt, compost and a sprinkle of fertilizer. Will it grow potatoes? Who knows? But I remain hopeful for a massive potato harvest at the end of the year.
Picked a small handfull of greenbeans. When I get tiny amounts of produce like this I lie to chop them up in some korean ramen while the noodles boil for lunch. Korean ramen isn't like american ramen, it already has vegetables (dehydrated) in it in good quantities and a delicious broth that is creamy and a little spicy... But I like it more when it has fresh veggies in it. I'm going to get many, MANY green beans by the end of the year. I may can some.
I am also pondering canning pesto due to how well our basil plants are growing. I wasn't expecting much out of them, they had a very poor start, but they grew extremely well. I could make the pesto largely out of my own garden. I have garlic and parsley and hot peppers too.

Sun shade is working real well for my tomatoes pumpkin and cucumber. The heat here was just too much for them.
The basil did real well also. What's the best way to make pesto. I've already dried enough to last awhile.
Also when do you harvest potatoes? I've heard when they bloom is that true? I usually just dig them up when plants are spent.
