my old flock hated rosemary

I don't think she's eating it. If she wanted to eat it, she could probably do it from the ground. She's actually standing on a tiered plant stand that is behind the rosemary, she's not in the bush (which is about 5ft tall). Most new growth on that thing is on the top. I've hacked it down low to confine its size so it's growing up, not across.

They'd probably go for a new plant, when it's all soft. Mine is ancient, and it's extremely woody and "tough". My bunnies love it though. Good bunny tooth-grinding food.

mine is not just 2 yrs old so not near woody and we do have it super fenced but somehow my one hen kept getting in

I went out today and pulled weeds from around the perimeter of the garden and moved leaves so they wouldn't be touching the hot wire. Fed weeds to critters. The pumpkin plant is still blooming. The cucumber plant got beat up by something, got 3 whole stubby fat cukes on it. The cherry tomatoes are looking good that i planted late. Sweet potato vines still looking lush. Pea plants growing slowly.

Several spots in my garden look like a bull dozer has been at work. Piles of soil heaped up, no sign of a tunnel. I have no idea what kind of critter is at work. I know there have been some rats in the yard. But, there should be some tunnels. Expecting a new trap tomorrow.

Garden is officially finished. 3rd frost last night. I had not harvested Jalapenos or Habaneros. This morning, they were glazed over with ice. I figured that I'd simply cut them, and roast them anyways, even though they were frozen. Went out 3 hours later, the ice melted off them and they were nice and firm and lovely. Got a whole bowl full. Will roast them, and freeze them. Never grew them before, they did better than the sweet peppers.

Chickens get the garden tomorrow. Still have some mint and some parsley to harvest. Planted some dill in the green house. Will transplant some Cilantro seedlings if they survive the night. Still lots of seeds to harvest.

I do keep my herbs going in the greenhouse all year but we have not had frost here yet

Our average first frost is Oct 20th. I am sort of torn, i want frost to kill the fleas but i don't want to lose the garden. I think i would rather the frost held off, but you know how Mother Nature gets notional so who knows?

Today we're planning to collect all the butternut squash. The leaves were killed by the frost the other night, but all the squash look fine. Will probably harvest the turnips & rutabagas also, though no hurry since light frosts actually make them sweeter. Cabbage plants are all fine. The pumpkin/squash patch is still growing because we covered it with plastic before the frost. Everything in the greenhouses are still okay as well. The garden is definitely slowing way down, but not quite finished yet.
