What did you do in the garden today?

I bet you could use some R & R - it seems like you're always working so hard! How did your Dr. visit go the other day? Can they do anything about your infections?
This brilliant specialist has concluded that i do not get sinus infections because my CT scan was normal! Well i would hope so after 2 courses of antibiotics and a steroid pack! He gave my steroid and antibiotic combo drops to combat the infection in my ear. Now i have pus leaking out of it. But these drops have worked in the past, so hoping this will do it. I can't figure why he would think i had no infection when my face hurt! Sigh, Doctors!

Dang it! I pulled something in my back last night when bending over to pick up a chicken dish. Have had back issues for years, but after going through weeks of physical therapy recently, I learned about the benefits of ice and ibuprofen for injuries and inflammation. So I immediately started icing my back last night, and though it's still very sore, I would say it's already showing a little improvement, which is something that normally doesn't happen for days after my back goes out. So I'm optimistic for a quick(er) recovery than normal. For at least a few days, though, I'll probably be stuck in my recliner for the most part. Bummer.
Hope you get better soon. You can also try alternating heat with cold. A hot bath can work wonders! :hugs

Thanks. I hope you get better soon, as well. A hot bath sounds wonderful, but between my back and my knees, if I got in the tub, I doubt I could get back out again! Hey, that would make a great excuse for marinating in the tub for hours on end - heh heh. ;)

I picked about a qt. of Wine Caps today. Have them rinsed and drying. I think I'll saute them, then vac seal them in appropriate sized packets. More Wine Caps still to pick. I need to cut them instead of pulling them. Finding that when I pull them, it also removes some newly budding WC, that would grow to decent size if left behind.

Also picked some Plantain, Calendula, Comfrey, and Sage. Will try to make some salve out of that combination. My last batch of salve ended up in the trash. it smelled putrid.

Cooking down some lovely apples from my friend's trees. Should yield about 16 - 24 pts of apple sauce.

Had yet an other "last picking" of green beans this weekend. They just keep on keeping on.

You sound very busy! What kind of salve do you make, or I guess I should ask, what do you use that kind of salve for?

It's funny - a few years ago we had so many apples that I made a huge batch of apple butter. While it was cooking down, our windows had hordes of bees all over them. Guess they liked the smell of it as much as I did! :drool

Your tubes are doing their job, your ears are draining when they become full of mucus. Supposed to stop infection frequency.

Last year, I made a poison ivy salve out of jewel weed, plantain, and sage. It was great for all sorts of skin issues. No more jewel weed available, so I'm trying a different concoction.

how very cool that is.. why is it you cannot get jewel weed now?

It's 3 AM and I'm watering because I can't sleep. It's too dark for anything else, but it's cool and quiet out here, almost chilly. I'm starting to see the winter constellations, which I have an easier time identifying, and I'm enjoying my morning coffee.
Soon I'll hear the roosters within ear shot start to crow, hubs will get up and I'll have to give up this quiet time. I love having a few minutes to start my day outside.
Have a great day folks :frow
