It's snowing right now & cold! I'm under my blanket drinking coffee :caf. Should really go start a fire. I picked all the pumpkins & squash last night, knowing this weather was coming. There were more squash than I realized, especially smaller blue hubbard squash. I cooked one in the microwave this morning, and will give it to the chickens when I feed them in a few hours. Luckily, the snow is supposed to melt because the ground is still warm. The weatherman says next seven days will be nice and fairly warm - today is just a one-day blooper.

We stripped the garden yesterday and I got all my plants inside. Heavy frost last night and freeze warning tonight. We made chow chow out of the green tomatoes. Ended up doubling the recipe and got 13 quarts and 13 pints!

View attachment 1170446 It made 60 today, so it was pleasant to work outside. Got more work done on the coop.
Nice water bottle holder! :celebrate Great hoop house...shows a lot of hard work done.

Thanks, love my water holder. Makes it easier to find my water. Plus i can take it where ever i am working.
Yeah, i have worked hard on this hoop coop, lots of other stuff needs attention. Poor husband is out of commission since he fell out of a tree. He usually hangs the doors for me. But i can do it myself when i need to
.

Still scouting the garden for wine caps. cooked 3 for freezer. Only the caps are useful as the stems are too fibrous. Those 3 caps yielded 1 C of chopped mushroom before sauteeing. Harvested a hand full of fortex to dry for seed. found a few nice clumps of self sowed lettuce seedlings that need to be moved to the greenhouse.

Stacking fire wood this afternoon. It's warm enough to be out working in short sleeves, and sweating.
