What did you do in the garden today?

no matter how much clean water they have I have the end of a water tank we pulled off a travel trailer the guys stripped leave it in the front yard of the coop after rain the girls love to go drink from it no matter how muddy it is

Yea there are 4 waterers out there that get fresh water every day but if the hose is on they're in it.

Well I sowed peppers and aubergines today. Tried some peppers for the first time last year from seedlings but this is the first time sowing them. I've not grown aubergine before at all. I will be germinating them in the house where it is warm. I have quite low expectation for both as our season is short, so can't be disappointed but will be happy if I get a few to germinate and even happier if I harvest anything. They will be going in my poly tunnel with tomatoes and cucumbers when the weather is more settled. We get very late frosts her. I ordered some lemon cucumber seeds which look quite fun, so will be sowing those next week as soon as they arrive. I will be needing more window sill space for everything. I'm toying with building a hot bed so that I can put things in there to harden them off. We sometimes get frosts as late as the beginning of June so I have to be careful planting out.

Planted watermelon and cantaloupe with a mound between for the runners. Got shade on the west wall of the garden, surrounded the grapes with bird netting and the lemon tree with wire to keep the chickens from eating the leaves and flowers. The rice flower seems to be doing ok but I fed it and the other things in there today.

Well, we just got our last freeze, complete with snow yesterday. I'd better get busy planting the remainder of our seeds and seedlings, now that the freeze has passed. I should probably reseed a few things I had already planted, because I see quite a few bald spots that should have filled in by now and some puny seedlings that are frost bitten. It's garden magic week! Yay!

Tomatoes and peppers are ready to go out. The ones in the middle are a foot tall.

Retilled an area that had settled because of rain and I hadn't placed any seed in it, yet. Mostly, I spent the day pulling roots out of the area in which I had already tilled and tried to get my mind ready for the work that will be planting soon. I need to go to my aunt's and plant seeds, as well. The strawberries that I planted in pots look pretty good. I'm not sure what to do with them. Do I let them stay there? Also, my onion seeds that I planted in a very large smart pot have not grown one iota. It's probably been a week or two. Is that normal? No clue, here. I guess I'll continue to wait and see. I can't believe that I haven't planted any tomatoes or peas, yet. Ahhhh.. namaste! Breathe in, breathe out. Another day will come, and things will get better.

I did NOTHING because of that freaking RAIN. The only good thing about it is we installed a water butt over the weekend.

The plants I put out front seem to be doing ok. The mesquite trees are doing GREAT. We got them free from a shade tree program our electric company had for a while.

Hi all! I'm back from the Dominican Republic, where we went for spring break with my mom, my sister and her family. Great trip! My son is 16, so we don't have that much more time for cousin trips; we all had a ball. Also got to go diving with him on coral for the first time--LOVE that.

My fabulous critter keepers also kept the majority of my transplants alive, so if it stops raining here I'll be planting the peppers and maters and such in the raised beds. They're hardened off and hanging out under cover outside. We've been eating the asparagus and the lettuce, tatsoi, kale and bok choi, but no snow peas or shelling peas yet.

I've almost cleared the roots, weeds etc. out of the last two beds.
