I checked on my tomatoes since we had more heavy rain last night and of course hail.

They are happy in the giant light domes I salvaged last year.


These used to be in the building I worked in. They upgraded and I salvaged them to use for plant protection from wind and hail. So far they are working very well.

Those are pretty awesome! What are they?

They were the gigantic light shades from where I worked. They kept hitting them with the fork lift and breaking bulbs so the owner upgraded to led lighting. They were going to throw them out.

I am basically using them like garden cloches. Even with the open tops it is a good 5° warmer inside.

I've been more busy with chickens than my garden this last week. My broody hatched a dozen chicks out of a dozen eggs, and it was a first for us both. I chose 4 to keep with mama hen, and found a country home for the rest.

My garden is looking good though. I think the snap peas will be topping out and drying up soon, but I need their cages for cucumbers, so that works out fine. Wax beans and green beans are putting on flower buds. Our tomatoes are starting to produce fruits nicely.

I have pulled 3 great salads from mine already.. my peas are blooming tomatoes are showing buds also

I've been eating salads this week, sent 2 huge bags of greens home with friends today. Lots more that needs to be given away. Picked first radish.
