What did you do in the garden today?

My luck is such that I would go to great pains to make this "tape", and end up with sprouts all willy nilly anyways. Lol! But the theory seems sound enough. I'd probably go with maybe 2-3 seeds per dot, and then thin once or twice depending on the germination rate. My last carrot plot had way too many clumped together in each hole and no neat rows. I was too lazy to thin all of that.

I would put a few extra seats in but it wouldn’t be like it is when I plant them by hand. Carrot and lettuce seeds are a pain. Sounds like a good area to me too That way they don’t end up all clumped together. When I send them when their clumped together to close it ends up pulling ones I didn’t plan on thining. Thank you so much you just help me with one of the things I hate the most about carrots.

There are 170 wildfires now in S. Oregon and N. California. This is, unfortunately, the new normal. Our crews are overworked and tired already and the air is grey with smoke all the time. I expect that the rates of lung diseases will start to climb significantly in the near future. Our fire risk at this time of year is always high so the use of any kind of machinery is pretty much forbidden. But we always try to look on the brighter side of things. Our valley is stunning now with all the vineyards getting their fruit and the rows all perfectly pruned and tidy. The smaller farms on the valley floor are rich with vegetables and flowers and even though everything is kind of foggy to look at, it is still beautiful!

Oh my gosh! I hope they get them all out soon. That's scary!

This is sort of off-topic, but in a way related to gardening. I live in Oklahoma, which is right smack in the middle of a big political hooha over the medical marijuana initiative.

My husband has been working tirelessly collecting signatures, because he's very pro-natural medicine, and anti corporate govt. meddling. We passed the bill, but our lawmakers, along with the health dept. are doing their best to screw it all up, working in collusion with big-pharma, and private prison sectors. They're grasping at straws at this point.

Basically, the people in charge of making the regulations have overreached their office, completely bastardized the bill, and there's been fraud, bribery, and arrests. Good lord! Because Okies want pot so bad, or just hate the corruption that is coming out into the open, they are cleaning house! It's crazy, and I can't wait to see how it turns out.

It's a plant that happens to get folks high whatever... It's legal to grow other plants that people use to get high that have a huge level of toxicity, and I don't see anyone making a fuss about that, so it's all pretty obvious what they are doing. I don't know if anyone here that lives in a cannabis legal state grows their own, but it looks as if it will be a gardening project in my future.

Right here!! My husband just got legal permitting for recreational pot and has been in the medicinal business for a while now. The red tape is AWFUL, and big pharma and the tobacco companies have been buying up land and water rights here to make sure that the little guy doesn't stand a chance. When this thing hit, it was like the end of prohibition, so many folks piled in and spent fortunes of money on infrastructure and jumped through all the hoops that the gov. set up and then they discovered that unless you have all your future ducks in a row, you will go belly up in a hurry! My advice, know exactly what is coming down the pike in your state with regards to regulation and record keeping. They will get you from seed to sale and tax you at every junction as well. It costs a lot of money up front just like any other venture but because this is so new, the state governments go way overboard with requirements before you can get your permits. It may make more sense to wait till they have flushed out the unnecessary garbage before making the investment! IMHO.

Oh, I know they will have their hand in everyone's cookie jar. How else would they get by? Lol! I don't know that we will go into the business, but the regs they came up with were ridiculous, even for homegrow. No smokeables at dispensaries, a pharmacist on staff, high tax, nothing over 20% THC, etc.

Everything will stay in limbo until a mutually satisfying agreement can be reached about the dispensaries, I'm sure. I still think we'll be able to grow plants, though, without too much issue once we can get the medical cards out. Could be awhile, but most of the pro-cannabis people I know are pretty patient folks, and are just happy to have the opportunity for legality. We thought for sure we'd be one of the very last states to get with the program.

That's exciting for you and your state dun. I know some folks who made a business raising pork off of hemp and cannabis. I'm sure you can find a way to make it work for you if you try!

Washington State is one that allows personal and medical so does California maybe Oregon @oregonkat I know one on Craigslist here listing his license for hundred thousand if you can get in on the ground floor your better off
