What did you do in the garden today?

Actually, there are two kinds of bamboo, spreading and non spreading. As you can imagine the spreading kind is the invasive variety. The other kind is fairly inoffensive. They're both about the same usefulness but one doesn't grow back very fast (non spreading).

These are the ones most people plant up here.

I am actually nudging my way to the garden. Finished the garden layout for this year and gathered up leftover seeds from last year. Seeds are usually good for two years and I am working on purchasing heirloom seeds that I can just save seeds from those plants going forward. I lost a lot of my planting/ starting supplies when I was between houses so I'll be heading to the local discount store that has all that stuff on sale today. Thank goodness the polar vortex is over. Yesterday morning was down to -1F. This morning it was 25F. We're having a heatwave!:celebrate:yesss::wee

Hi all :frow
It's been drizzling or sprinkling all day. I got the yard raked and the coop bedding out first so that's a big plus. It's not warm enough to dry things out quickly so best to not have a mess out there.

I replanted the rosemary, it wasn't in the ground deep enough, and put some bricks around it so the quail don't dig it up again. Also transplanted this other thing so it's getting more sun, can't remember what it is :idunno

The next plans are to put new wire around the grapes and take down what's around the lemon tree. Last year the chickens were eating the flowers but the tree has grown since then and the loss won't be so bad. We had grapes last year but the chickens broke in and got them. NOT going to happen this year!

After that we have a brooder to build and I'd like to get some tomatoes going too. Plus we have some changes to make in the coop. Then I'd like to get some pavers done out back too. The chores are never ending!

We had our first winter weather a trace of snow if you stand in once place too long
like my labrador Moose
I need more snow than that to keep me on my winter fitness routine of shoveling. At least you missed out on the polar vortex that swept through most of the country. I can't do much of anything outside for a few weeks. Just gathering up seeds and preparing to start the indoor planting. Can't wait to plant peas next month.
