Crappy weather. Hail then rain. Windy & bitter. I only went out once to get the girls into the run.
I tried a couple of things today that I haven’t done in a while. First thing I tried was making scrap brownies. Not scratch brownies lol. Threw oatmeal, shredded coconut, raisins, chopped walnuts into a brownie mix. Anything I had in my drawer...scraps
they’re wonderful :duc
Going to freeze some.
The second thing I tried today was.....housework.:lau

I got some pictures today. Here are the planters my husband made. I hauled dirt and filled them yesterday, and planted our seedlings

Here is my little herb garden on the porch.

I am loving that planter.

Day late, but root bound items, you loosen the roots and give them liquid fertilizer, very diluted, for a couple of weeks, usually takes care of stunting.

Potted up some zucchini and sweet peas. Next are beans. Gotta work in that cool morning window.

Yesterday I took the day off to visit a friend and drop off eggs. I didn't plant anything but I did stir up a concoction of bone meal, Epsom salts and powdered egg shells then put that in with the tomatoes, bell peppers and the two unplanted beds. It's raining again, big shock, so when it stops I plan on adding some sand to the bed where I'll be planting leeks. I'm still pretty worn out from all the recent work. Today I'm making sourdough bread and getting a little housework done. @WthrLady , your fence looks awesome. Good job.

Woke to a few inches of snow. We had alternating rain and snow all day yesterday. Today more snow forecast.
:tongue

Looks like we will warm up Thursday. Drying out is unlikely anytime soon though.

At least weeds are easier to pull when the ground is wet.

I am really glad we got the long bed prepped before the wet hit.

I think it stopped raining. Everything is so saturated. I added sand to the leek bed then planted the 5 seedlings and direct sowed more seeds so I have two 5 ft rows. At today's grocery store prices that should yield about $20 or more in leeks. That just about covers the cost of that raised bed plus dirt, etc. My turnips are definitely coming up and it even looks like my zucchini seeds are sprouting. The soil is cracked where I planted them. I think my bunching onions are sprouting as well because there are all these tiny little seedlings peeking through the garden dirt near where I planted them. I'm sure all the rain washed them all over that bed. I put together the bamboo canes for the pole beans. I hope to plant them next week. There will be 4 towers of green beans. And there is plenty of room in that bed for my cucumbers and chard. My peas are starting to develop their little tendrils already. I'm glad I took the chance of planting early. I may have to replace some of the tomato plants and basil, but everything else is doing well. That's it for the garden today. Now I can spend some time to do some housework and watch the sourdough rise. Have a great day!

Had appt during the cool morning hours, so made up for lack of gardening by visiting Lowe's. Random impulse garden shopping. Got sweet potato plants, mostly for the leaves to go in salads, and a hot pepper for the DH. Picked up a pot for the youngest to paint for her teacher. This weekend we have to find red and/or blue flowers to put in it. I asked her teacher to get specifics and she answered honestly, which I love!
So far everything is in pots, raised up, except for my experimental garden, which I'm not really paying attention to. I just want to see what it does. Beans are in every "spot" and it's hit or miss lol. The ones in the middle are just stalks, the ones on the outside with more weeds are happy. Go figure.
