What did you do in the garden today?

Good morning gardeners:frow

I'm a bit peeved...couldn't find the heavy gauge wire to try out the lattice planter yesterday :barnieHubs promised to locate it and will leave it out so I can work on that Sunday.

I've had an ongoing battle with pigeons here. I found 2 in the mini coop yesterday so I caught them by holding them to the ground with my little rake and held them before I released, they weren't happy so hopefully they've learned their lesson. They carry parasites and possible disease so come September, dove season and they're called rock dove here, they won't be so lucky.

Today we are 15* below normal temps, high should be about 79*, with a breeze. I went out with a tank top, had to come back in for a tshirt too.

@Wee Farmer Sarah your planter looks great! Can't wait to see it again when everything grows up.

Have a great day everyone :)

Last night my cats must have been mad at me, because they peed on my entire yarn stash. It's one of my businesses, so that's a huge expense. I got out in the garden and I have twelve spaghetti squashes on the vine- I was so excited I looked up how long until they're ripe. 50-60 days :thI am not the most patient person. I thought they'd be like zucchini for some reason. Which, by the way, is goig gangbusters this year. I'm getting so many, almost double the per-plant average I had last year. I moved the zucchini bed over by one, so that must be it. The new bed it is in has very little biological matter in and is very well draining. I also haven't watered nearly as much as last year. Since I'm starting to save seeds, I want to select for drought tolerance, for my winter plantings.

Speaking of seed, the radish has flowered, and it's beautiful. I might end up growing radishes for their flowers for my wedding. The winter salad mix has flowered. The sugar snaps have dried and I've collected those seeds.

The tomatoes have fruited, just waiting on them getting ripe. They're going gangbusters, too. The yardlong beans have aphids. But the bed is so big, I'm not certain I'll actually do anything about it. And it's one of three beds. Maybe I will. At least I'll throw some DE down.

Good Morning Gardeners :hitIt’s the middle of May!!
Frost covered morning it warmed up to 35* by 7am.
Last night I added bedding for the girls and I turned on their heat. I’m glad I did.
Crazy cold today......:th
Looking like a housework day for me.
Enjoy your sunshine Iffin’ ya got it!

OK if I went out and bought a 50 pound bag of black oil sunflower birdseed and wanted to plant it, it wouldn't grow.

But go and accidentally spill 3 cups of scratch with BOS in it that mice stashed in the post hole pounder in the new garden, and I have seed coming up everywhere it spilled! D'OH!

:gigSounds familiar

So much rain last night - over 4 inches of rain during the night hours....and they were predicting 0.5" :barnie

I had planted the rest of my tomatoes and peppers, and the leaves are covered with dirt from what was obviously very heavy rain! water is still sitting around the raised beds, not deep, but hasn't soaked in the ground yet. It was so heavy that the down spout extender pipe was pushed off the barn downspout. This caused minor flooding at that corner of the chicken run. Not a big deal as it was just the corner, but speaks to how heavy the rain must have been at one point.
