What did you do in the garden today?

Ahhh....sunshine! We are putting it to good use by building more raised beds! What's a little snow on the ground, its 39F and warm enough to work in short sleeves!

That’s great you’re using your sunny time! If I had any gumption I’d be tarping a hoop tunnel. My reinforced clear tarp came

yesterday.

Got home this afternoon from my sons. We had a nice visit and Christmas. Only down side was that 1 child was throwing up as we arrived and the youngest had a very runny nose the entire time and probably was running a fever. :he Hopefully, my hubby and I don't get sick or cause my mom or anyone else to get sick! We didn't stay too long at their house. But everyone seemed to like their gifts. The 8 year old was SUPER excited to get his own fishing pole and tackle!! The other exciting gift(s) were new (used) controllers for their PS3. They were very hard to find since it is not the newest system.
@Acre4Me your yard looks like ours in regards to the snow coverage.

Bunnies should definitely be kept outside!! Yes, it is the urine that smells!!
For me the best (least smelly) way to raise them was to let the urine fall straight on to the ground or channel it into the garden ( along with the poop).
Obviously, the more bunnies you have the more risk of having an odor problem. But I had a LOT of bunnies 20+ without any problem.
Our weather is getting warmer this week too. Christmas it is supposed to be in the 60's!

The only thing garden related is that tomorrow is the day we feed the Nissene Risengrynsgrøt. Our happy, friendly, mischievous, protective house and barn gnomes. ;) Of course, what's left over is our hot breakfast too.

So to save me time, I've got it in the oven now, at 11pm, so that all I have to do in the morning is heat it up and add flavoring, which is up to each person. Me? I like brown sugar, maple, butter, and cinnamon!

Good morning gardeners. Hope all is well. Start eating up that vitamin C @karenerwin and crank up the humidifier in the house. Yesterday was much warmer than it has been but we still have lots of snow and ice on the ground. I watered my houseplants again and re-positioned my lemon tree and largest poinsettia. My poinsettia is 9 years old now and it blooms red every year. My molting hens continue to improve and I let them join the rest of the flock overnight. I'm not so sure if that was a good idea as Suzy Q ended up on the floor. I had to separate the two again this morning. I don't think they are quite strong enough to deal with the bullying yet. Good for you @Acre4Me for pushing ahead with the raised gardens. I need to start planning the herb garden addition. I'm including some vegetable plants as well as flowers and herbs. I'll have to use mostly containers since that part of my yard backs up close to several very large trees that will steal all the moisture from the little plants. Enjoy the "heat wave" that's crossing the country now and have a great day.

I picked some strawberries and tomorrow I'm going to start a small veggie patch! I have all the seeds and everything ready! It's going to have beans, carrots, tomatoes and cucumbers! :)

Welcome to the thread! I see you're in Australia. I live in a desert here in the states so this is my growing season too. I hope you enjoy it here :frow

Good morning gardeners :frow

I bought an English thyme plant yesterday and planted it in the garden near the Mexican heather. We got busy celebrating the Solstice yesterday so lemons will be picked today. My coops are prepped and ready for painting, but the storm we were expecting on the 24th will be here tomorrow with chances of rain all week. Will have to delay that chore for a couple of weeks :barnie

Stay safe, warm and healthy everyone :)

4 more raised beds made, and 1 more cut out and ready to assemble. That will make 6 new raised beds! We also got a delivery of metal and clear roof panels to finish out the roof on the run, and also many bags of sand to add to the soil for the many raised beds to help make the clay soil a little less dense.

What am I thinking - making more work for myself! Good thing gardening is enjoyable!

I did tell the kid that they could have one bed all to themselves and plant what they wanted. We will go look at the 4-H gardening book to see if it is a project kid might want to do or if they just want to do the garden bed for fun, and not as a project.

Here is the progress so far:

4 New raised beds. These are approx 10' x 4'

The completed bed from before is 16'x4', and on top of this new bed are the parts for a smaller raised bed of 8'x4'. in the background, you can see the older raised beds, all are 16'x4'
