Also wanted to clarify... you can keep them together at least until they’re 5+ inches or more... their roots are actually pretty woody and easily separated/moved. To ease your mind, most nurseries knock the dirt off their woody stock and ship them bare root (in damp, shredded newspaper.) What I usually do, is designate a small patch in my garden as a nursery... they can be planted as far apart as you have room for... so close if needed and separated later. What’s good about this is the soil temp is better regulated (dark pots get hot) and you don’t have to worry as much about over or under watering. They’re fairly resilient
