What did you do in your garden today?

I picked a bunch of Rattlesnake green beans and Cherokee wax beans, a few tomatoes, three eggplants, some broccoli shoots, and jalapenos. Pretty happy with today's harvest!

How do you keep your chickens out of your garden?

I planted my 2 cherry bushes and about a dozen of the 50 strawberry roots. I think I will need to rethink and move one or both of the cherry bushes. I reread the description online and it said they can be 6 to 8 ft tall and wide at maturity!! I definitely did not leave enough room for that! The strawberries on the other hand, I can put closer together. :gig
I want to start seeds in the house but in the past the cats wouldn't leave them alone. :he
They either tried to sleep on top of them or knock them off the table or eat them. :he
My hubby is currently not feeling well, his doctor said he has a virus but doesn't believe it to be THE virus. (But didn't want him to come in to the office either). We looked at having him go to a testing center, but he doesn't meet the requirements and he figures if he doesn't have it, he certainly doesn't want to be exposed to it while he is sick!
When he is feeling better he is supposed to build me a cold frame. I figure that will be the best place for me to start seeds early!

@WthrLady I am SO SORRY to hear about your bee hive. :hitI hope you are able to find a local source with some good hardy bees at a reasonable price!! :fl:fl

Pretty sure we haven't heard from Dara77 in quite some time. As for keeping chickens out, I fenced my garden. A smaller garden could be protected with cages of hardware cloth or chicken wire. Another option is chicken tunnels or chicken tractors to contain the area chickens have access to within the garden.

@TropicalBabies has done a lot of this type of work. Not only does she have to keep her own chickens out, but the feral Hawaiian local chicken population out too. Maybe she’ll chime in with her experience.

we keep the chickens in their run mostly with supervised free range time, otherwise they Would impact the garden.
