What did you do in the garden today?

I uncovered everything this morning (Monday) and everything looks great except for a tomato plant that I accidentally broke the top half off of. :he It of course was the only one that had flowers on it. I went ahead and stuck the broken part off into the soil in the hopes that it will sprout some roots and give me another tomato plant. :fl :love
That was pretty much it as far as gardening goes. I did go to the store and then made a big batch of orange chicken for my niece and her family. They have had 3 deaths (on her husband's side) since Nov/Dec 2019 till now.
She also gave me several crafting items from her Grandma's condo that they are cleaning out.
I got the news today that insurance will quit paying for my Mom's stay in skilled nursing. Yes, she has been there since her surgery several months ago.
They have also decided that she may not return to her assisted living apartment ( no surprise to me there, although she may be a tiny bit surprised). So now we have to break it to her that she is going to have to give up her apartment. She can't afford both (skilled nursing and assisted living). If she ever gets healthy enough she can put in for another apartment, ( but I don't really forsee that happening).
Not sure how moving all of her stuff is going to occur ( with covid restrictions).
My broody is still sitting tight on her eggs!! I believe she should hatch them on the 21st.
Did not get any sod removed today. Ran out of time. Try again tomorrow. Will have to do it in the morning or early afternoon because I'm picking up some over time 4pm till midnight.

Why will quit paying for it @karenerwin I do not get did not want her to live ?
I broke a Jalapeno I planted took the broke piece little root tone it have roots getting a second plant from it did with the aloha plant also put it on my burn then in root tone off it went too

So I have to tell you something super funny.

This was hilarious.

My main group of ducks is about 3.25 months old.

I went and got a second duckling from Cal Ranch about a week ago, because one I'd hatched from an egg incubator was solo and was crying too much from being alone, because I couldn't mix them with the older group. I was afraid of them getting trampled. (When I feed the main group its really like a feeding frenzy.)

So anyway, I took the 2 smaller ducklings, that are about 1 week old out in the yard today to play and let them get used to grass, where the other ones are to see how they'd react and just get them use to each other for later possibly being together.

When I did let the 2 smaller ones out there (only for an hour, not permanent), instantly I was shocked.

The second duckling that I didn't hatch appears to possibly be a pekin. And I suspect it had seen its mother before they put it on sale at Cal Ranch, because the instant it saw the white 3 month pekins it started to try to run over to them.

I was at first terrified thinking it would be trampled. But instead the 3 month old pekins started running away from it!

O.O

What... in the world. As 1 pekin duck ran away from it, it then turned to the next one (hoping for mom I guess...) and they would run away also. This one duckling made all of them run away in fear.

(Everyone survived. No injuries occurred, etc.)

It was pretty funny.

Freeze warning today until 9am, lows tonight are going to be just above freezing, so will be covering the plants one last time (hopefully) tonight.

The sun is shining finally!! So, I’ll get some garden work accomplished today.

Of course, I’ll be turning eggs several times a day now. Weighed all the eggs and they were placed in the incubator late last night. Very curious to see how many are fertile, but as we have some Marans I’ll be needing a very bright light to see inside, and my current flashlight (bright LED) isn’t quite powerful enough for those dark eggs.

Good morning gardeners. Well, I just may be able to get the weed whacking done today. I wanted to tidy up the mulch rings around my fruit trees, however, you can't buy bagged mulch online in my area. Good grief! I may just air out the face mask and make a quick trip to HD this morning. I only need 3 bags. There was no work in the garden yesterday. The rain showers would last for an hour, take a short break and then more showers. I was able to do a quick walk around and everything still seems fine. So it looks like the big planting days are Wednesday and Thursday of this week. My pepper seedlings are still lagging a bit so I may keep them inside for another week or two. I love your apartment coop @TropicalBabies. Very neat looking. We would love to see pictures of your ducks @nao57. Do you have a pond for them on your property? Nice produce @Severne and welcome to the thread. I noticed your conehead cabbage, I'm trying to grow that this year so I hope mine turns out as nicely. Your garden is coming along very nice @BReeder! I can't wait to see it all finished and fully planted. Here's hoping Spring really is happening for us all. Have a great day everyone.

@BReeder! it's just beautiful. Some day I'll add a nice gate to my garden. You did a wonderful job.

@karenerwin sorry for all the troubles for your Mom.

@nao57 that poor little baby duck!

@Acre4Me here's to the last night of cold!! We have tonight to make it through & we should be good. I'm going to go back out today & cover all the little seedlings poking through with straw one.last.time.
