Ya corn, a grass, is a very heavy feeder. This is why we grow soybeans between rotations, and STILL use nitrogren additives in the soil.We did a little research on our corn and pumpkins to see why they were struggling to sprout and figured we needed a soil test to get some conclusive results.
We tested the soil for all the essentials and everything was checking out except nitrogen. Come to find out that corn and pumpkins are heavy nitrogen eaters and we needed to build up organic loam. So we got a small amount of manure layered around the roots of each plant and watered it in. I'm hoping for the best! The plants are healthy, they just need a boost.![]()
