What did you do in the garden today?

Good morning gardeners. Good golly, those ice cream sandwiches look yummy @Acre4Me. I can feel my hips expanding just looking at them. I'm getting close to finishing the baby coop. Yesterday I had a little delay when I was gathering the stuff to hang the HC. The washers I ordered from HD were huge. I never opened the box I ordered until yesterday. Ugh! I scrounged around and found fence staples so I'm using them. So I'll be working on that between loads of laundry today. My rooster started getting rowdy with the girls so he's back in his bachelor pad. I did a walk around the garden this morning. Everything is looking good. I may need to make some soapy water spray for the peas. Looks like something trying to dig in to them. Sometime between today and tomorrow I need to get some more dirt piled on to the potato plants. The rain we got has everything growing, including grass and weeds. I'm tired already and I'm only on my first load of laundry. BTW: @NewBoots, I'm not all that fond of peonies. These came with the house. So when the other group of them bloom I'll certainly take pictures for you and @TropicalBabies. Have a great day everyone.

Thanks so much, for me peonies are my mother's flower from my childhood and so has a special and probably outsized space in my heart. Plus it's such a old fashioned flower. I see them all the time in old wallpaper and paintings.

Hey all! Those ice cream sandwiches would have been gone long ago here! They look yummy!

Anyway, had a great weekend away, came home to the garden watered & growing nicely. The lettuce is out of control, I was feeling the food shortages from COVID when I keep seeding more apparently, I have TONS! Big salads for dinner all week, lol.

My pullets are all laying regularly now so it's nice to be inundated with eggs. I think I have 2 double yolkers too. Gotta love the new girls!

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning all. @Wee Farmer Sarah I also think of my mom when I see peonies, she loved the wild ones that grew on our farm when I was a kid. It's windy again today but we have a mild temp so that's a plus. I did some reading about glads and decided to try some dahlias with them; I'm still looking for what I want for color though. The glads are yellow and purple, thoughts? I was thinking something red but the hibiscus blooms red and lives right behind them in another bed. The mint is doing very well in its pot and the lavender appreciates the hay mulch; I'm looking forward to drying them with rosemary to add to the nest boxes.

Here are some of the finished Brownie IC sandwiches! I have not eaten one yet - will wait until tomorrow.

Garden: Placed some soaker hoses. But, need to re-do one of them. Have more to place, so that will be an ongoing item.
I cant let my DH see those yummy sandwiches... oh no!!!! too late :th... he saw them over my shoulder and has asked about them. Looks like I am going to have to do some baking now. Man, maybe there should be a rule on the garden thread... like no over delicious looking baking and posting and making non cookers like me look bad. Never mind, that would be a sucky rule. Those are too pretty to not share for sure but how did they taste?!!! :drool as good as they look? Great idea for sure... gunna hafta order some molds now.
I remember the first time I saw Peonies. It was in a beautiful graveyard in Loveland, Colorado and I just fell in love. The whole scene was absolutely amazing. Wish I could grow here and thanks for posting photos... even if it sticks me in the kitchen....

Do you like or have Plumbago? It is a vivacious and easily controllable bush with an amazing blue pompom like flower. Great for dry, hot... miserable, sandy loam... aka us. Or a Blue Daze? Nothing like blue to make a yellow pop.

Beautiful! I was thinking about zinnias but yeah, the blue would work over there you're right! Thanks :highfive:I think plumbago gets too big for the space I have, too bad because I've always liked it.
