What did you do in the garden today?

I am so far behind on this thread so catching up will take a while. In the mean time, I've started seeds in the greenhouse for snap peas and a couple kinds of chard. I'll add some of those cone cabbage and assorted lettuce. I've prepped a couple of the raised beds and started weeding some of the others. Still a lot of them to get weeded. I gave the weeds to the ladies and they're sure over their reluctance to eat worms, the roots of the weeds had plenty of them. I pulled all the rest of last years chard and gave the greens to a neighbor and the roots to the ladies. The last few days I found out that chickens like (really like) the old woody beets left over in the beds too. I pulled some and tossed them in the run figuring the ladies would just eat the greens, but they've eaten nearly all of the beets too. They're laying pretty regular again, 7 or 8 eggs a day from 10 hens. I'll go out in a minute and take my problem girl off the nest she always tries to sleep on and stick her on a perch.

Covered in snow! But wind has died down. The snow is light and fluffy, just a lot! I’ll be interested to see how much our area officially received.

It was pretty awful out there last night. Had to shovel driveway to reduce snow load bc spouse had to drive home late. But with wind whipping around, the effectiveness was reduced. Still, spouse was able to get in. Today, the drive to work will be better bc it is light out, so can more easily see the hazards!

I’ll be shoveling snow, but also preparing for the chicks and poults!! :celebrate:jumpy They are getting an area in the spare bedroom until the cold snap ends next week. I decided to set up 2 separate enclosures so the poults will not be overwhelmed by the chicks.

Seems like snow is the common theme today... I'm no different. A whole bunch of snow here.
