What did you do in the garden today?

@karenerwin
I used apple sauce and halved the recipe. The dog likes his apple peanut butter biscuits.

Looking back at the excel sheet garden plan, Kale was started today. I also got ahead of myself and started several herbs: thyme, basil, spearmint, parsley, and dill. I planted each in two 6" pots so they have plenty of room to grow. I'll be able to transplant mature herb plants likely, which will just keep in producing throughout the season. I also realized I still need to buy oregano seeds.

Oh, goodie! :celebrate
Why do you germinate before planting? How long do you do it, and how do you plant it?
Can I put a tomato plant in the garage, and expect it to resume growing the next spring?

I germinate before planting to save time. when it gets too hot most vegetables are sort of dormant.

if tomatoes and peppers don't get frozen, or froze just a bit they can live for about 2-3 years - my experience. I had a few suvivals in the garden.

Lost a whole post. :he Gonna be that kind of a day I can tell.

Had to amputate the tip of a chicken toe this am. Blood everywhere. But she'll be ok. She feels better since cutting the end off, she's now standing on it. She'll be in the crate inside for a while because as soon as she hits the snow the clot will be gone. The patient:

She's what I call my cuckoo rock - no one can tell me if she's a barred rock or a cuckoo marans - he legs are not yellow or pink. :lau

Added a few inches of snow to the garden the last couple days so nothing happening here.

Have a good one all.

It’s been one of those weeks here. Had amputate part of a waddle 2 days ago. and today I had to rescue a sparrow from the cat and fell down the steps twice already! It’s not even 9 am.
Barred rocks do occasionally get a pale leg gene in there. One of my roosters has it and he’s definitely a BR.
