What did you do in the garden today?

I never heard of yacon. I just looked it up. Sounds interesting. A large sweet tarting tuber that grows in quantity beneath a flowing daisy that's hardy in zone 5-8. Lovely to look at while it is flowering and tasty to eat when harvested. I wonder why it's not more popular in backyard gardens.

I'm guessing that it isn't really well known yet. I didn't know anything about it either and my mother has been a Master Gardener for years. She has never heard of it it either... I saw it for the first time in one of the many garden porn magazines (aka Four Seasons Nurseries, Stark Brothers, Springhill, etc...) about a month ago. Rather than buy out of the magazine, I did a search on Etsy and found an organic grower in Oregon and bought starts from them. Kind of expensive but it looks like it is pretty self-propagating once you get it established so worth the investment.

Dental appt today. I enjoy them, but it sucked a chunk out of my 4 hour trip to town, so the rest of the day was rushed, which left me really tired. 20 bags of animal feed, a trip to get more coir and some seed cells. No one had coir this year, so I ordered it online.

I guess Spring is coming.
13 eggs from the 23 layers (I have a few that don't really lay anymore)

I wandered into the Hobby Lobby. The stuff they got in for Spring is amazing. I behaved though and only bought a little kitchen timer. I also got 9 yards of fabric for a 1840s dress and 2 yards for a skirt shape improver.

A quick stop at the pharmacy drive through, the pet store, and lunch on the go and the day was gone.

I picked up a packet of tomato seeds from burpee, new variety for this year, dang I cannot remember the name now. I'll try a pack or two of those.
I also picked up some dill, mustard, bunching onion, and a couple flowers.

OH and the new reeses cups. EH, they're ok.

OH OH when I was unloading the car, I found a half gallon of milk- that I bought MONDAY. UGH. It must have slipped out of the bag and I missed it.

PLanning on a trip to pick up all my alpaca yarn tomorrow. We'll see if I feel too sluggy to go or not.
Have a good day all.

I tried that last summer. Got through the entire bible like 4 times and never finished the weeding. In case anyone is wondering that’s over 300 hours.

Weeding is the biggest challenge I have in gardening. I'm going to try to mulch more this year with unsifted compost and straw.
