What did you do in the garden today?

Sat outside in the sun, staring at the garden trying to figure out what to do with the cover crop. I don't till so I'm not sure how I want to get rid of it, but whatever I do it's happening
this weekend

We took out the clear panels off the separate pen and washed and dried them. Nice and clean!

Venturing out from under the coop to see what I am doing and this thing in my hand making funny shutter noises. Kili (an EE) in front. Sylvia (a SLW) just behind.

Good afternoon everyone. We had rain overnight. Not anything too dramatic but the ducks were happy to find everything wet when I let them out. Hence nothing going on outside today but fresh water and feed for the ducks. The dill is still happily blooming in the garden. I’ve been focused on house stuff lately so haven’t been out to trim or pull anything. The carrots have grown considerably just recently, I noticed when I watered yesterday. I hope they’ll get good roots before it gets too warm. Not much else happening and hubs just came in. We are kidless so gotta figure something for dinner. Have a great day all.

for the first time in my life chives are sprouting! maybe because I bought a pot of chives in case they don't, lol.

spinach is sprouting as well. it seems that jalapeno peppers are sprouting as well. I hope it is not some grass.

The chickens were quite excited to have so much grass available yesterday. They were able to hang out for nearly an hour before a trio of hawks started circling. We still have a few really cold nights ahead so I'm not removing the plastic sheeting from the chicken run yet. Also, it does help block the March winds. I was able to prune my fruit trees yesterday. I do have a branch I need to saw off but I'm trying to determine the best tool to use so as not to damage the branch it is growing next to. DD and I are off to the antique/ consignment shops today again. There are two closer to Boston that usually have some very nice furniture pieces. I do plan on getting my pepper seeds started today. The week ahead is looking like a pretty busy one so I need to get cracking. No sign of any crocuses (I only have two left from the previous owner) but my lonely hyacinth is pushing through the dirt. I can't wait to see how the new bulbs I planted in the front yard garden do. It might take a bit longer as the ground is still frozen.
