I think you are good as long as they were alive when you got them. Mine were planted in February and survived temps of 16F to 90F before the last one sprouted!Oh, thank you, you both give me some hope!
I ordered two plum trees, four persimmons, and a redbud (and I'm still waiting for two butternuts) all of which arrived at different times, so I can't remember when I planted them exactly, but it was early/middle March. I planted all of them the day I got them or the following day, since I'd been expecting them and the areas were already prepped.
The weather then was high 40s - low 50s and we never got below freezing at night, so I think they should have been OK, but a few weeks later we got a hot spell where it was in the high 70s during the day. The native plums we planted around the same time loved it and budded up, but these still look dormant if not dead (one of the plums is getting a bit of green on a couple buds, but none of the others.). I guess I should give them some more time and see what happens. Maybe prune them if they still haven't done anything in a couple weeks...
I was really proud of myself at the grocery store the other day - the garden section had a bunch of tomato and pepper starts sitting out right as you walk in, and they looked pretty healthy, too. I stared at them for a long time, fighting with myself, and finally, I did not buy any!!!!
