What did you do in the garden today?

Made new bed for more blackberries this one is full sun , then planted some more. The strawberries I got at TSC are dead for sure, so glad I bought some live ones from FFA kids. My garlic is doing great. Set up a hydroponic tote yesterday in part shade for greens. Planted some rhubarb I've had for too long hope it makes it. Sprouted some old seed packets of wax beans to test and them and saw a baby plant today! Beets are just busting through soil . Seedlings are loving being outside. Trying out some new varieties this year and getting clever where to plant them all. I've learned I Hate starting tomatoes and peppers! But having a great time with cukes, squash pumpkins starts they gave me hope since it's been several years since I've had garden. My hubby made a raised bed for me and old body late summer last Aug. Sorry I'm rambling on . Even had time to make casserole , deviled eggs for potluck tomorrow. I love having my ingredients in backyard! , :wee :gigPics of garden and a surprisingly beautiful double tulip I bought at Walmart last fall!!
Breathtaking

Good morning gardeners. I finished cutting all the flowers off the artichokes, hubs trimmed one of the trees out front and I’ve pulled a few weeds. The compost pile is getting big again! I transplanted one of the lantana and moved the wire fence to put around that bed. I’m going to mulch it with straw and I really need to trim one of the mystery bushes in the corner because it has grown out into the walkway. I picked out a spot to put the second lantana, now I need to dig a hole and come up with something to protect it until it grows up some. When I was weeding I found that I still have two strawberry plants tucked in among the herbs. Yay! Both thyme plants and the oregano are blooming and so are my chives. I’m waiting for the sun to move so I can get out to that area and weed some more when it has shade though. Here’s a few pics from today, I haven’t made the trellis for the luffa but I’m not sure I’m going to this year

Your gardens always look so clean and organized.... How do you do it?

Mine looks like I'm fighting the Amazon all the time.

Yesterday I decided to take the heat lamp and MHP out of the Silkie House. The Silkies are around 8 weeks old now and the Easter chicks are 4 weeks old. It's generally staying in the 50s or higher at night.

Later yesterday evening I noticed ALL the Silkies were outside at dusk. I chased them up on their porch but they didn't want to go inside. I thought it was because they weren't used to it being dark in there so I reached in and switched on a light. Came back later to shut the lights off and noticed ALL the Silkies and chicks were huddled on the opposite side of the coop than normal. Well that's odd.... But I had a zillion things to do so I shut off the light and moved on.

You know where this is going, right? This morning they were all out in the run when I went to check their feeder. I watched them for a few minutes and realized one of the CCLB chicks was missing. I went into the coop to look for her and found a GIANT black snake hiding in there behind the nesting boxes. It had killed and eaten the missing chick. 😭😞

DH dragged it out of the coop and I killed it with a shovel. It had to have entered in the daytime because there's no way it could get in that coop at night.

My poor babies..... 😔 They are traumatized.
