What did you do in the garden today?

Well, they're supposed to suck. That's how they get the milk out.

Ya, grain and silage milk farms. BTDT.
I can soooo tell the difference in my grass fed cow's milk.
It is an acquired taste.
Ha! I see what you did there.

I bet it tastes different, can't wait to try some myself. Store milk has always seemed a little... funny to me. Almost like something was missing.

I can't enter the summer fair this year, lol, nothing is mature enough and probably won't be harvesting by the end of the month either. Next year.

We had people move into our area from western nebraska and paid 680,000 for a house worth only 450,000 at best. Two more people in the area saw that profit margin and tried the same thing and got it too. OMG. INSANITY. MUST have been cash sales. HAD to have been cash sales.
Hey, didn't we go through this about 13 years ago in 2008? BIG bubble, and BOOM! it burst and what a mess that was.

If you don't learn from history, you're doomed to repeat it...

We have a robotic dairy up the road. Girls get rations when they want, wander into the shed and get milked when they want/need to be. Robots clean the utters, hook up, feed the beast, milk, and release. It's awesome.
Chips keep track of who is on meds, so milk can be tossed.
Keeps track of who gives how much milk, and checks for fever etc.

Coooool system.

I have times of year I don't like the taste of it. It tastes 'green'. Everywhere we've lived milk tastes totally different. I liked pennsylvania milk and here, not so much florida milk, and north dakota milk tasted chalky to me. Odd all that eh?

I finally have everything plant-wise in dirt. Seed-wise, I might do some more, but all the pots are empty now. :celebrate

And...

Tomorrow is chick day! :celebrate:wee:clap:woot

2 Blue Australorps and 2 Jubilee Orpingtons. It was going to be 5 Blues, but she only had 2 that made it out of the shell. My flock is going to be more colorful very soon!

Not at all. The old timers used to talk about when the cow got in the onion patch or similar, and the milk would taste of onion. Well, different parts of the country have their own unique mineral content in the soil, and therefore also in the grass. That's what you're tasting, I bet.

Exactly.
I meant that I can taste it. Many people can't taste the difference in milk.
For example, Our local market carries 5 brands of cow's milk. I can only stand one, because it tastes like milk.
The ultra filtered national brand milk, tastes like nothing to me, (although with its super long date on it, I keep a half gallon in the fridge, unopened, for ooops we ran out and the dairy up the road is closed - it's sunday and the cinnamon rolls come out of the oven in 10 minutes.

Went into the big coop tonight and found another one. No idea how many are out there

Mine (Cat and Purple Snurple) have 23 eggs between them. On day 2, but doing well so far. I have to flop the Cat pancake out on the ground to get her to eat and poop LOL. Such dedication. Plus I think Elsa, one of the OGs is also thinking about it. I'm curious to see how my younger dog and Kitty Purry are with chicks.
