Anyone with good rabbit recipes? @NewBoots - I think you mentioned rabbits once. Anyone else?

Rabbit stew is good but my favorite is a hassenpfeffer recipe. One that marinates the rabbit (cut up) in a red wine and vinegar marinade. Red cabbage goes so well with it too. Ooo and with German spaetzle dumplings! You need to use a moist cooking method because rabbit has no fat at all so if you aren't careful it will dry out.

I like boiled meat. my favourite rabbit (no) recipe is: whole rabbit (if fits), potatoes, carrots, onions, a few bay leaves, salt, litle olive oil and about 1/2 glass of water in a pressure cooker. any veggies would do as well.

Morning everyone. I've never had rabbit. Or duck & I know I'd love that because I love dark meat. I've looked for it around here but it's hard to find.

I can't believe how much the garden is still producing. I picked a ton of tomatoes & peppers yesterday. I still have some squash (slowly) growing & the beans are producing super well. I keep wanting to pull everything & put it to bed but I can't while it's still putting out so many goodies. I did pull some old lettuce that had bolted & gave that to the chickens.

My average frost date is tomorrow - but that's not happening. They say above average for the foreseeable future. I just need to figure out where the garlic is going & get the shallots in, hopefully they get delivered soon. I should check on that.

Beans are doing great here too! Tomatoes aren’t doing as well late in the season as we’ve seen in past years, but still getting small ones.

Our first average frost date has passed us as well. Nothing below 45 for the next two weeks. That's ok, disease caught up to the garden, so at least it's clean. The last Fall chore I have is to put up the winter panels on the run, which I do the middle of October. I'll push that off until it cools down if I need to.

I have one of the arbor tops on the cattle panels, one more to go. It should be a great climbing gym for the beans next year after I add a few eye hooks and some twine/paracording.

New roof for the chicken run has been ordered.

@WthrLady don't forget to share a pic of the trellis, please! Mine's just going to be an ugly cattle panel till the beans grow, lol.

I put up half of the plastic on the covered run for the big coop already. I just got in the heavy duty xl shower curtains that will go over the cattle panel that will be the littles covered run. I may try to get that up this weekend just to get it done. It's a new idea so it'll take some figuring, I don't want to do it with frozen fingers! I need to buy a couple straw bales too.

Good morning gardeners. I got the last batch of Concord grape jam finished up yesterday. Making bread today and going to get my flu shot tomorrow. I took down the pole bean plants yesterday. I got another final small bowl of beans in the process. The chickens got half of the beans. I still have bell peppers and jalapenos going on so those plants are safe for now. I'm leaving the lima bean plants up as long as they are developing. The carrots are doing well and the chard is still growing. I believe our average first frost date has come and gone and still like @WthrLady said, nothing lower than 45F for at least another 7 days. Today is forecasted to be near 73F. I'll take it. The good news is that my nearly naked RIR hen is already showing feather quills poking out of her skin. She even has new quills growing under her neck feathers. I keep the ropes that I hang the shower curtains on attached to the chicken run year round. That makes putting the shower curtains up easier every year. I won't even think about wrapping the run until November at the earliest. My maple trees are starting to turn, but it's going slower than usual. I'm not complaining at all about the temps now. It saves a bundle on the heating bill. I still have so much to do before the temperatures drop. And putting the gardens to bed for the winter is much easier with cooler weather. Oh well, I finished my coffee. It's time to get busy again. Have a great day all.

@Sueby, I tied my shower curtains down with zip ties last year. I used the tiny 4" ones; they were plenty long. Yeah, not reusable, but they worked really well. I think half of my run is put together with zip ties!
