What did you do in the garden today?

Have been out of town for 8 days. Checked the garden when I got home. Picked jalapeños. 5 cherry tomatoes. Most of the green beans have gotten too big so they will be left to dry out for seeds. Still waiting for potatoes and sweet potatoes to die back do I can dig to see if they produced anything.
I did get a laugh when I went to check on eggs. Hubby said he checked the big coop but there weren’t any but he hadn’t checked the other coop yet today.
I found 11 eggs in the big coop all in one nest box. 🤣🤣 I guess he just didn’t see them for several days in a row! I only have 9 hens in that coop and not all of them are still laying. There were on 2 eggs ( from 9 hens) in the other coop. Which is more what we have been getting since the days have gotten shorter.

Yesterdays harvest - this is why I'm having such a hard time ripping everything out.

I just ordered a have a heart trap - I'm sitting in the living room & it sounds like we have a homeless man living upstairs! :he It's bigger than mice for sure - DH thinks it's a chippie, I think it's bigger. So I ordered a live trap so I can drown the thing, lol. How else do you catch chippies tho? There was a bucket trap up there but it wouldn't touch it.

Snap type rat traps baited with peanut butter for chippies .

@Sueby -I hope you catch it!!

small things can make a lot of noise! We had some squirrels get into our attic years ago (100 yo home with mature trees around it), but we didn’t really hear them..we noticed their nut residue from stashing nuts in our stuff - it was a tall attic space with 6’ windows and a narrow stair case to access, so great for storage. But, one year something must have gotten into the porch roof area, which abutted up to our bedroom wall (porch roof ending just under our windows). OMG, it sounded like these animals were screaming and they would make such a racket in the middle of the night! We never did find out what animal and didn’t figure out their entry area. I think they left after raising babies or they found some of the poison we put out (never smelled decay though). What a nuisance! Hope you get yours solved!

Yea, we have snap traps baited with PB up there. & bucket traps with both PB & seeds. & those flip traps (those are the best, but too small for a chippie probably). That's why I think it's a homeless guy. :gig

@Acre4Me that reminds me of a story about a guy I used to date - he had a very old house with an attic, he bought it & started redoing it. He kept hearing stuff up in the attic but never really bothered too much. He decided to redo the sheet rock on the ceiling in the living room & started demo - as he pulled the old plaster down THOUSANDS of acorns came pouring out! That squirrel had enough acorns to last a life time stored in the attic floor/living room ceiling!
