What did you do in the garden today?

I never got around to spraying my peach with the Dormant spray. Now its' blooming.... I'll have to look up what to spray it with while it's blooming. Time just flies before you know it....
I think you have to wait until after the bloom now so you don't kill pollinators. :hmm

I checked my seed potatoes the other day, and there are beautiful new sprouts. So I had no reason to worry (not that I was worried, I just have never planted potatoes before). My strawberry crowns have shipped. :wee<Me going back and forth to the mailbox.

I cleaned up the flower beds the other day, and found a bunch of green things coming out of the ground. I thought stuff in the ground is supposed to be brown and crispy?

Ordered rhubarb from Gurneys, and some light insect netting. Before ordering the rhubarb, I went to all stores in my town that carry things like this, including Walmart. The only variety available was Victoria at each of the 4 stores, so I bought 1 package (2 roots) of the Victoria from TSC. Then decided to order the other 2 varieties from Gurneys. Bc why not? I’m a gardener, and this is garden math.

I received my bare root strawberry plants from Burpee. A week ago. They are in the colder garage, but it’s not that cold. It is quite windy today. I’m going to try to plant today, but super windy, overcast and cold. It’s only 50 bareroots, but it will be a repeat of yesterday’s asparagus adventure. Uncover warmed bed in the wind. Remove really happy weeds. Turn soil (hope for no bindweed), get compost for bed then finish bed prep before planting the bareroots….which are already sprouting!! I was trying to get this done yesterday, but ran out of time!

The strawberry plants in pots came in great condition (Burpee), but they can wait for better weather bc they are in 4” pots.

Pot roast in the crockpot . I have to watch my sodium intake with this heart trouble . 1500 MLG is what they say . That is hard to do . So I had too much yesterday as we were out . Really watching it today . I weigh everyday to watch for water gain . So I gained 2 pounds due to salt yesterday .

Well not as windy today as previous 2 days.. cool west/northwest wind today at 12-15 mph.. has been 25-30 with gusts over 40... got a solid 5 days hardening off last week/weekend.. and now pickin up where I left off.. chicks hatchin and plants wilting.. it must be springtime..

I know you are supposed to remove the flowers for the first year or two. I did that on my previous blueberries and then they all died due to my ignorance in over-fertilizing. I have 2 new blueberry plants to get in the ground and they are all flowering like mad. I don't want to pull the flowers off.... 😢 Even though it's better to remove the flowers, I might just leave them on anyway.
I never removed my flowers and the plants did fine. I still have a bag of blueberries in the freezer from last year (plants were 2-5 years old) and this year's season is already starting.
