What did you do in the garden today?

Then battened down the hatches, cause we are supposed to have a windy day with 50+mph!
We are supposed to get close to that today too, I can see that the trees started moving.

How are yall selecting weeds from the yard for your babies given the avian outbreak?
I had been doing that then quit cause I was afraid of bringing that into the coop.
I haven't been letting mine roam free either.
I have been wondering about this too as the new spring grass is starting to pike through. I want to pick some for the chickens but not sure that is a wise choice.

I have some blackberry and goji berry cuttings that have sprouted leaves/roots in water over the last couple weeks. I need to get them in soil, my question is can I put them directly in the ground now or do I need to pot them and not put them outside later? our last frost date is end of April/beginning of May, but both are deemed hardy for our zone. I have done some research and watched some videos and there seems to be differing opinions. I just know I need to get them in dirt one way or another.

Looking ahead at our 10 day forecast looks like there are 2 days (this Thurs and Fri) that the temps get below 32 deg F at night, otherwise they are above freezing

Depends on the root system.. if they are well established you can go directly into the ground into a prepped hole and they will thrive, if they are just young short roots then a pot 3-4 inches in size for a few weeks should help the roots to take off.. then be better off in the long run

The rest of the asparagus is starting to take off...as are the weeds. But at least my onion sets are looking much better than when I first planted them.

I have 15 ft of bed space for tomatoes, along with 2 tire beds. I have 17 tomato starts... 😕 I've been trying to decide how I want to prioritize what goes where. I'm thinking 10 plants should fit in the bed space, 1 in each tire planter... Then maybe try to track down some extra 5 gallon buckets for the remaining 5? I hate throwing out perfectly good starts....
