Took a break from work and went outside. Nearly an hour and a half later (oops...), I have successfully weeded around some of the tire planters and planted some nasturtium between the tire planters and the hoop house. This is an awkward space because you can't get a trimmer back there. I wanted something that could help keep the weeds at bay and also dispel any potential bugs that might try to attack the tomatoes through the netting (aphids got through my netting with no problem last year! grrr.....).
I also sowed some zinnia seeds in my raised flower bed. I waffled on whether it was too early still but it's supposed to climb into the 80s in the next week so I figured it was worth a shot. I split the seed packets in half so I could hold some back for a later date, just in case.
I have cardboard tacked down in half the hoop house. Hoping to get the other half done tonight. I REALLY need to get that hoop house done ASAP. I just need to get the door framed in and the netting up. Maybe I can talk DH into helping me with that tonight.
I was looking over my tomato starts today and noticed a couple of them look wilted. I am a little paranoid because I was battling fungus gnats when they were in the house. The past week I've had them in the garage. I'm not sure if they are wilted because they were too wet or from the gnats. *really* hoping they make it through.... All the more reason I need to get the dang hoop house finished so I can get them in the ground in the next week or two.
Oh and the annual battle against pokeweed is on.
