What did you do in the garden today?

It seems like every couple days I have to tie my tomatoes up higher, but they seem to be doing fine and starting blooms. My basil are still teeny-tiny - I water the garden every few days, but not sure why they aren't growing. Potatoes are looking mostly good, but a few of them look chewed-up - searched for pests but couldn't find any - I guess I'll spray them with neem oil, just to do something. Same with the poor loofahs, 3rd year of loofah failure. Beans looking good, butternut and zucchini late, but OK so far.
The current heat wave means I better pay more attention to watering my baby fruit trees and berry shrubs. If garden plants don't grow, oh well, there's always next year. But if the trees die, that's a lot of work gone to waste.
Our young rooster Rednar, who escaped from the bachelor yard two weeks ago and enjoyed a week with the hens, turned into a jerk when we caught him and put him back with the boys. He kept charging and fighting his brother Charles, until Loki (the big rooster who generally stays out of sibling arguments) would intervene and break it up. Finally, Rednar learned his lesson and hid from them, tucked into the long grass between the fence and their house for two days. We weren't sure if he was injured or just scared, so tonight we got him out of there and he was fine. Naughty boy, he brought it on himself.

That's funny, I put my soft shell layer back in with the other 7 girls recently & had some drama. She has always been #2 in charge & she is a mean little thing, my smallest bird (I even thought she might be a bantam GLW). Immediately one of the little girls challenged her - I was like ooooh Sukie that is not a good idea, Paige will kick your butt! Sure enough they fought like roosters in the ring for a good few minutes till Sukie finally ran with her tail between her legs. 2 days later & any time Paige sees her she goes after Suk & yanks a few feathers. I tell Sukie, sorry girl, you asked for it & picked a fight with the wrong chicken, she won't forget that any time soon! I love the drama that is chicken life, cracks me up.

I'm quite annoyed that none of my bush beans are actually standing up. Every one of them has fallen over and is laying on the ground.
MINE TOO! I have been having to lift them up to find and pick beans. I usually don't have any troubles but I feel that the bushes this year have a much longer stem before the leaves start which is causing them to lay down.

Grading and drainage work on the Lazy River this morning in a slight drizzle. I've got over 3/10th inch of rain yesterday and today total, so for the last couple weeks mosoons we are up to 9/10ths! That doesn't sound like alot to most of you but this is Arizona in a drought, I've only had to mow the grass/weeds 1x in about a year.

Also harvested handfuls of peppers, eggplants and the first good tomatoes from the greenhouse.

Hello!!!
The garden is growing wild right now. I haven't been on BYC much at all lately. And I have to admit that I haven't tended the garden very well lately either. It's growing though! Zucchini are HUGE, beans are vining all over the place on me. The tomatoes that actually grew are producing green toms right now that we are waiting on to turn red. Plenty of strawberries this year already for the kids. Eggplants are growing. Most peppers failed, but a few plants are producing. Garlic is harvest. Onions and shallots need to be harvested along with potatoes.
