Thanks all. I was going to cover them but DH went out & picked the spaghetti squash & the peppers. We did get a frost, I saw it on the car, but I haven't been out to see how bad it was.

We are all feeling better - getting there.

As soon as I'm well & the in-laws are gone, I'll make the hot sauce & can it. I think I have 8 gallon ziplocks of peppers so it should be a large, very hot batch of sauce.

We finished harvesting the garden last night! I am amazed at the vibrancy of the red corn! And the carrots produced pretty well, even though they were way overcrowded!

My bull's blood beets didn't get very big, so these are Shiraz Tall Top beets. The carrots also came out very clean for a root vegetable!

Well, BEAUTIFUL weather for the past few days and looks like some more days coming up !!

The plants are dying off, fall is OFFICIALLY here, the weather is cooler. Great time of year to be alive. I decided to get one more good mowing in and get in close to cut / shave everything close or in the garden as close to ground level as I can get it. Lot of maneuvering there,

I have a Ryobi Riding mower, it's an electric one and I absolutely LOVE IT !

It's electric, I have solar panels, make my own electricity to charge / run,... you get the idea.

The only problem is, the thing has a stupid beeper on it that goes off with just about anything you do with the mower. This beeper would have mother Theresa cursing this thing after about 10 minutes of use. I made a quick video on how to disable the beeper for anyone who owns Ryobi Riding Mowers. Quick, Easy, Even a non 'mechanical' person can do this easily and safely.

I also found out another 'unaccounted for' benefit. It seems the chickens were dialed in on that beeper, and THAT is what would bring them running when I ran the mower. They learned that when I was backing up out of something, I just left a fresh patch of mowed, bugs on the top, yummy chopped up weeds and bugs to eat and would be getting in the way. With the beeper disabled, they didn't come around.

I honest to god would have though this big loud whirring, HAS to be blowing some kind of air out the bottom of it machine, would scare birds FROM IT, by that very nature... nope,not mine

I promised a video of using the fence post digger as a RedNeck Tiller but have not gotten around to filming it yet! Next week for sure !

We got just a very light scattered frost early this morning. Primarily on the neighbors roofs. I completely spaced out bringing the impatiens inside last night, but did it when I took the dogs out first thing this morning. I cleaned the sunroom up and lined up tables and plant stands for overwintering 2 containers of rosemary and two geraniums. My 10 year old poinsettia grew alot outside this summer. It’s really big. I’ll have to take a picture later. The lavender and fig tree will be going onto the covered porch in the front. I’m still getting a couple of eggs most days. Can’t complain. There’s feathers everywhere from molting hens. The rooster is having a slow molt and I’m thinking that’s why he has been a bit of a jerk lately.

I harvested all the banana peppers. I'm going to slice them and pickle them probably tomorrow. Some of my cherry tomatoes are finally almost ripe. That only took all summer... Last night I got a bunch of okra cut and shoved in the freezer.

I've learned that when the okra grew slowly over the heat of the summer, it stayed tender longer. Up to seven inches, it was fine. Now that the weather has cooled and they grow super fast, they only get about four inches before they turn woody and get chucked in the bag marked for gumbo. I can hear the difference as I cut them with the kitchen knife. Tender is a clean little snick. Tough sounds crunchy.

We're still in the 50s at night, so the season continues. Lettuce is growing really fast and we're getting salads now. Pulled the first radish as well. Sucker was hot.

I planted 14 pots of lettuce (3 kinds), 10 pots of spinach, and 7 pots of kale (2 kinds) in the green house. I was dripping with sweat. I need to take a thermometer out there. It must have been 80 or more.

The soil I used was so dry, I had to water it, wait a day, water it more, wait a day, and then water it again, a gallon each time. It's in big plastic totes, was sitting there all summer, so it was dry as dust.

I figure when March rolls around (can't wait!), I'll have pots of soil ready for tomato and pepper seeds.
