What did you do in the garden today?

@Wee Farmer Sarah I'm kicking myself for not grabbing a .99 turkey from BJs on Sun! I had just bought 2 small ones for us personally & didn't really think I had room for a big, family one but I'm kicking myself now. Of course all over the news now is the turkey shortage. 🙄 Looked like canned pumpkin gets a break from the shortage this year. :lau

I realllly dislike lemonade. LOL

I think I've decided on bluebarb jam for the holiday jam this year. I still have rhubarb in the freezer so this will use it up & it's easy to make. Maybe this weekend I can get it over with & put the canner away for the season.
I still have 2 cans of canned pumpkin that are good until the end of this year. One can for pie then maybe pumpkin bread or dog cookies. The lowest turkey prices I’ve seen is $1.49 to 1.89 per pound. It didn’t fit in my big freezer the freezer in the basement refrigerator was empty. My advice, if you see a good deal, take it.
 
I got some used coffee grounds for the grape trench. Whee. I've started improving the soil! :lol:

I'm about to give up totally on growing carrots. I finally got some purple and yellow ones to grow, got about 10 all together, and they taste like dirt. :rant:tongue
I’m sorry! We still have bags of carrots to process. I’ve made the carrot cake (7 cups shredded) 3x already. We have good luck with Nantes type. Burpee seeds have always been good and this year Baker creek seeds also worked well.

Lots of news... not much garden though. Okra are done. I'm going to yank them in the next couple of days.

We're closing on 10.28! acres Tuesday (survey good, boundary marked). Shouldn't need a well permit with those numbers. :woot

My dad is in the hospital with pneumonia. Dang it. Caused by swallow problems. Surgery looming for him.:hmm

Guess life has to balance the good news out? :confused:
 
Only had about 20 kids yesterday, oh well, more candy for us! I've got the last batch of fresh tomato sauce going on the stove and a big container of green and not completely green tomatoes that'll be made into jam tomorrow. I also pick all the rest of the peppers, I think I'll can them in half pints for cooking over the winter. I actually had a bigger crop than I'd expected, these are just my final picking.

I'm tempted to can the serranoes in 1/2 cup jars, I love them in refried beans.
