What did you do in the garden today?

Came on pretty fast, the cold weather…Today I shoveled out the chickens and made paths in the yard for us. The dog doesn’t care, he loves the snow in ways we can’t. His undercoat grew back in after his summer shed. He was slim but now looks like a tank. 💪

There’s something on my mango leaf, and I don’t know what that is.

mango, just one leaf or many. Could be something simple like someone splashed it with something, bird poop stayed on it a day or two and burned it, or could be the beginning of a fungus or some other type of disease. Fertilizer can help keep the tree stronger to help avoid this too. Some potash maybe for the fertilizer, and, some copper salts should help if that is a fungus starting.

FYI copper salts are easy to make ones self if they are inclined and pretty effective on fungus, and other stuff like that moss that grows on trees out here.

Time change is still messing me up . Awake at 4 up at 5 . We set a new record high yesterday of 77 . Likely set another new high today . Then highs in the 30's starting tomorrow . Ordered 3 nut trees yesterday for spring delivery . 2 grafted butternut and a Emma K black walnut . With luck I will live long enough to see them have nuts .

From what I hear, the black walnuts can take 25 years to start producing nuts. I remember as a child, my great grandfather had one and when it started putting out nuts id have to collect them. I did nOT like the tree and never understood what the big deal was about it, until I was actually old enough to learn and appreciate that.

I was seriously considering putting some down here too on my property but THAT right there, turned me off it. Now that I think on it, ok ill be early 80's. I'll call it the Paco Ass Spanking Paddle Branch Tree.. and tell him im growing a paddle to whoop him with, and as SOON as the tree is old nuff he's gonn gitsa BIG serprize.

Worse case, it gives me something to look forward to for the next 20 plus years.
