What did you do in the garden today?

It’s raining off and on here so far, but gently so that’s good. I put the chicken feeder back out and pulled a few weeds in the shade garden, also got out some wind chimes for hubs to help me with, but rain will decide if we get that done today. I have thrown away or recycled all the seed catalogs this year. I have enough seed already and need to use what I have before add anything else, and I’m sticking to that this year!

My first Super Sauce and Celebrity tomato flower got pollinated. I haven't tasted these before, I can't wait to try them on a tomato sandwich.

This is my first time using the intertwining string on semi determinate Roma tomatoes. I am not sure how things will work out, it may get too crowded where they are. I may need to cut the tops off when they reach 4 feet.

For my Roma kratky tomato buckets, I have a small hole a little above the bottom of the net cup cover for the water to drain if it rains. I am thinking the 4.50 inch net cup air space is going to be sufficient. Normally, I would leave an air gap on the bottom of the net cup, but this time the water is touching the bottom. They are still alive, so it may work out.

I will be comparing the results with three different growing methods. The Kratky method, the hybrid Dutch Bucket method, and the 15 gallon fabric pot method.

Freezing fog this morning. Heading to 45 though.
Unmotivated to do anything, but managed a sewn, french seam pencil case this morning in the sewing room.
I have the worse trouble this time of year caring about anything, add arthritis in my hands to that, darkness, cold, blah.

Anyone looking for a good, albeit a gut punch, movie on Netflix - The Bombardment
Fun movie Extinct
Good British comedy Still Game or Derry Girls

Anyone else have recommendations? I have the computer or the TV on while I work in the sewing room or on the looms.

Absolutely beautiful there!
My mischievous pre school nephew came to visit me today. I found out that he finally got expelled from pre school and his parents need to find a baby sitter. I didn't notice anything wrong with him, but he did throw a big bouncing ball in my face as I said that while discussing his problem with his father. His father said, "See that's what I am talking about, something is wrong with him." I thought it was natural behavior for a child to want to play, so I didn't think anything about it, but then I notice that the back door was left open?????????????I wonder if that kid open the door to let the chickens in the house? After they left, I found a large dead koi in my 15ft Intex fish pool. I have had my expensive imported Japanese koi for 10 years and never saw a half dead one belly up before? What the hell, I wonder if it was a coincidence?
Hope his dad doesn't make a habit of saying somethings wrong with him in his hearing though. Also hope his dad believes in punishment. Speak softly and carry a big stick really is good advice.
Sorry about your koi.
Tried to look into the ER, it's packed , no doctors and its filled with the typical dregs you'd find on a saturday. Not to mention Im betting in a few hours the drunken, I blew off this and that crowd is going to start pouring in and im in no mood to deal with that.

I'll try again tomorrow. I was going to try to tough it out until monday but it's getting really bad swollen and turning all sorts of colors now so I figure i best get it looked at.

O man! Awful way to end the year. Hope getting it cared for isn't too hard...it really looks like it needs some serious TLC.

Happy New Year gardeners. Nice mild temps again. The chickens are loving this weather. There’s a little breeze today but not too bad, the temps will be dropping closer to the end of the week. But it is winter so can’t complain. So I’m guessing they don’t have urgent care clinics in Florida @Ascholten? If you go to an urgent care here they will send you to an ER if they can’t handle your medical issue. Any way, good luck with that.
