When I raised rabbits I used gutters to dump their waste directly into my garden. Everyone said those were the best tomatoes I had ever grown !
That's a great idea. I saw a YouTube video where the person had their rabbit cages sitting directly on top of their pallet wood compost bins. Another great idea. Anytime you can save a step or two in the process chain, that is a big win.
I kind of miss having rabbits, but Dear Wife was unmovable on the subject of eating them. I did not want to have pet rabbits, so I just moved on to other things.
Fortunately, Dear Wife is just fine with our backyard flock. She loves the fresh eggs and sells our excess eggs to her friends. In theory, I bought dual purpose chickens thinking I would butcher them after a few years. I'll have to cull some chickens this summer, so we will see if eating our own chickens will work or not. My main value out of the chickens has been all the compost I harvest from the chicken run which feeds my garden beds. Chickens just have been a better fit for my family then the meat rabbits I wanted to raise. I can live with that.
