Besides drying it in the dehydrator... does anyone hang up herb plants to dry? I really don't want to run the dehydrator when it's going to be hot.

I do. and hot peppers as well. I might try to air dry zucchinis as well. tried eggplants and it worked.

I do, sometimes dehydrating is more work. I tie with twine and hang until everything is good and dry. I use a picnic table cloth underneath or a bin, bus bins work good, and rub the leaves off while the bundle is still hanging if it’s the whole plant like dill or basil.

I came up with the idea of injecting BT into squash vines for SVB in the early 80s and shared the tip in Organic gardening magazine. It has helped many over the last 40 years. I have tried breeding resistance into summer squash but fruit shape and size has been disappointing. I will try parthenocarpy variety under row cover next year. No pollination needed.

Pics of breeding project. First pic seems to be bush type with big leaves second pic is two plants with small leaves and pic 3 shows short internodes indicating bush type gene. However they have small diameter stems. I will cross back to zucchini They trace back to small pear gourd for resistance. I need to do a large planting next year to find any resistant plants.

Can’t you just throw them in the food processor?! I don’t peel my tomatoes, among others, the good stuff is in the peel!

The bitterness is in the peel.

Few if any will try this product. What if I told you you could do a soil drench early on your summer squash and have no SVB, squash bugs or cucumber beetles with a one time application? Do your own research and make your own decisions. I did a test plant and it is working so far. I hesitated on sharing this as I do not want to take a beating online.



How does imidacloprid affect plants? Imidacloprid is a systemic insecticide, which means that plants take it up from the soil or through the leaves and it spreads throughout the plant's stems, leaves, fruit, and flowers. Insects that chew or suck on the treated plants end up eating the imidacloprid as well.

The bitterness is in the peel.

What bitterness? I don’t have bitter Tomatoes! I often cook tomato sauce with the peel on and let it cook at least 1 hr. Nothing bitter! I do cut the tomatoes crosswise and remove the seeds
