What did you do in the garden today?

I agree! I have a very good friend from SC & I absolutely love to hear her speak. Her accent sounds beautiful to me - though it annoys her that I say she has an accent. :lau & the differences in words in our own county are fascinating to me. Like we have grinders here (subs, hoagies) & we call liquor stores 'the packy' or package stores. I love that stuff! I remember trying to order a Boston Creme donut in CA, lol. Nope, no such thing. LOL
I am a transplanted Yankee, having spent 11 years in SC, and almost 24 here in eastern NC. I've got my roots down deep in the South!

My first job after moving to SC from Connecticut was at a McDonald's. I had to decipher what the natives were saying. An order of fries was a "frih" and a "tih" was a tea, but not a cup of tea, but a large cup of sweet iced tea.

Southern Hospitality is a real thing, and most friendliness is not feigned. You won't find it as much in the urban areas which have a lot of transplants, but when you're in the rural areas you'll see it a lot.

I know all about grinders, and cabinets, and frappes!

I just saw a clip on the news on that, how accents are disappearing. Sad.

Do you say 'you guys'?

I got so much done today, pretty much more than I've done in a year. I'm sure I'll pay later...but I got pots emptied & put away, all the garden decorations put away, hoses gone, 2 bags of leave litter put up for the birds for the winter, compost turned. I heard the word 'hard freeze' on the news - was kinda just hoping for a frost first for my dahlias. From 85 directly to a freeze. :idunno

Strip steaks for dinner, just about the last of the cow from the freezer, the new one is hanging & will be ready for pick up next weekend. :drool I didn't get any soup bones because I didn't think I'd be able to can broth, but I'm already kinda regretting it I think.
Yes, I do... Don't all Yankees? 😂

Stop the presses. I saw a squirrel today. Just one....

I feel like I just had a Bigfoot sighting.

We never made it above freezing today. We went from 90s, to 82 for two days, then 72, then boom 24 hours below freezing. No frosts, no quick short freeze, just BAM, hard core freeze.

Stringing up some of the Cheyenne peppers that I picked the other day. I have a bunch of green ones too because I picked everything to beat this cold front. Our high on Friday was 85. Saturday the high was 47.we have a freeze warning until Monday morning. Today’s high is supposed to be 49 and the low is predicted to be 39 today and then dropping down to 25 and 23 for Tuesday and Wednesday. We also had a lot of rain on Saturday with more predicted for the next few days.
