What did you do in the garden today?

I think they'll be fine. I didn't cover my strawberries last year & they were fine. Strawberries can take some good cold. I'd imagine we have much longer cold spells here than you do, but it was a mild year. Now if they were mine I'd trim them to the crown after they start to die back & then surround them with chicken wire & stuff with leaves. Not sure if you have leaves, I have TONS so that's why it's my first thought.
I'm surrounded by dozens of oak trees.... :D Leaves are one thing I have PLENTY of..... The strawberries haven't died back yet so I will need to wait until they do. Thank you for the ideas!

Where did ya get it? Brand?
I got it from Amazon. It's on sale & then there was a 20% off coupon which I see is only 5% now. I'm cheap & won't buy anything if it's not on sale. :gig

(that is a valid link to Amazon, I promise, not sure why it's not showing the preview here)
Joints ached this morning and my balance was off. My shirt fell and I was wearing it. :D Two of my medications say may cause dizziness. Scuffed an elbow but ok now. Made cranberry sauce.
That literally made me LOL. But glad you are ok!
It depends on the flexibility of the bag and the firmness of the food inside. That said, I DO try to spread out my food so it can do its best. AND my gasket does dry out a tad and doesn't want to suck as hard as it should. A simple rinse and shove it back in the machine before use helps a lot.
Mine doesn't have a removable/replaceable seal! Had I known that I wouldn't have bought that one. I'm going to see if we have some seal lubricant somewhere & give that a shot - it's annoying me because it isn't sealing well anymore.

Morning all, happy day before Thanksgiving. I probably won’t be doing much in the garden today. Doing a small dinner for myself for tomorrow, and testing some new recipes. DH did a road trip to visit his dad. I stayed back since dog was waitlisted for boarding and had no chicken sitters.

One of our gals was being particularly sassy this morning. Chirping like she was all cranky. Not sure if this is how it is before first lay, but she’s been ramping up her motor mouth for the last few days. We’re still waiting for our first eggs from them. I hope she’s just hormonal and it’s nothing else.

Ouch! Glad you’re just scuffed and not broken. I just got done making cranberry orange relish.
Thanks for the reminder. I bought fresh cranberries today, but didn't think about making relish. I'm going to go buy an orange and a lime right now so I can make relish too!

Think I'll buy a sweet potato and make some sweet potato custard for tomorrow too. I don't feel like messing with making a pie crust so I'll just make the filling. LOL

Save the seeds, but maybe buy a packet of seeds too. The ones from the squash might be a hybrid, and not grow true. But, they might be, or they might grow something new and weird and wonderful!

Not only that, but any squash seed can be used to make toasted "pumpkin" seeds. :drool

Great points. Thank you. I am learning so much from you guys.

Woohoo - let the long weekend commence! Logged out of work the exact second my day was over. :lau

We're doing our turkey day on Sat. My niece works at a hospital in Boston & is working tomorrow so Sat it is. I was thinking of making a pecan pie.

I ordered a grocery delivery this am & I ordered a cheap .49lb frozen turkey for the freezer for later (because who can pass up .49lb?) but they sent me a $50 fresh turkey for $8.82! I don't want to freeze it so I guess were having turkey tomorrow AND Sat. Yum.

Dip your finger in water and just rub the rubbery seal with it. That usually does the trick.

our cheapest turkeys were 1.98 a pound. And that's with us being with in a stone throw of major turkey processing plants. The number of trucks on the road full of live gobblers September and October was NUTS.
