What did you do in the garden today?

I think the cranberry relish is my favorite part of the whole meal.
Stuffing was always my favorite, but not anymore. I'm just not able to duplicate my mom's recipe. :(

Got my relish done. One package of fresh cranberries, juice and zest from one orange and one lime, a small granny smith apple, raw almonds, cinnamon, and just a touch of red pepper flakes, because why not! Pulsed everything in my food processor and added a cup of sugar to the mix. Should be pretty good by tomorrow.

Turkey breast is thawed in fridge and a box of Stove Top stuffing on the countertop. I forgot to get a sweet potato so I cooked one of my butternut squashes to make the custard with.

I'll have cooked carrots and kale fresh from the garden too. I was thinking about making onion fritters, but that might be too much work along with everything else.

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope everyone enjoys the day.

The cheapest I saw here was $.99/lb. I use the bones for broth so very little will be wasted.
Same here, I already have 1 carcass in the freezer. Problem is I don't have any room in the freezer for the broth so soon I'll just have 2 turkey carcasses in the freezer. :gig
Oh my gosh gang, we were gifted with our first egg today! I don’t know why I makes me a little bit teary. Bless these girls. No wonder Zooey was cranky, she was probably feeling all of those uncomfortable physics feelings of moving an equivalent watermelon out of a small space. Bless this girl!
So exciting, isn't it!?

I'm going to cook that gifted turkey today, but I'm not doing any sides with it - that'll happen on Sat with the fam. DH & I will just have a salad with it & then pick at it all weekend.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Pumpkin pie done! Yesterday there was a reel on fb of a Costco area with only pumpkin pies -a few long wire Costco shelves stacked with Costco sized pumpkin pies (all Costco pies are HUGE). Hundreds of pies…but it was fun to watch the reel of the pies being taken, restocked, taken, until all gone. No idea which Costco, of course.

Onto the petit fours. Cut the squares and pour fondant icing.

Stuffing and Brussels sprout dishes to cook. Maybe bake some sweet potatoes.

Congratulations! And Happy Thanksgiving to all!

My butternut squash custard is in the oven, 4 ramekins filled with one cup each, in a water bath. It should be pretty rich, because the recipe called for 8 egg yolks!

If it’s ok I’m stealing your relish recipe, it sounds delicious
Go for it! The custard ramekins are chilling out on the back porch now.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Among other things, I'm thankful for you all! I've learned so much on this board. I think I spend more time in this thread than on chicken stuff... 😂 Sadly though, I think the only thing in our Thanksgiving fare that I grew myself are the green beans, corn, and peanuts. I burned through my potatoes long ago.

ETA - oh wait! I forgot about the pumpkin bread... I did grow the sugar pie for that! ❤️
