Too bad they don't have pictures of veg growing, it seems like those things I buy that don't work as advertised.

Yay, a Purple Bumble bee cherry seed sprouted today. However, Brad's Atomic Grape and Brad's Crazy Cherry is showing no signs of life. The best time to start seeds in the tropics is around the middle of October. Pest, disease and heat destroys them in July, August and September.

I only need one plant from each variety to make clones. I hope they hatch.

When is yall average last frost? Ours is around the 3rd week of April. If I started seeds like tomatoes now I would have to grow them for 4 months inside before planting o.o

Usually mid-May. Last year, we had a hard freeze on May 26th. I lost a lot of stuff that I'd planted two-three days before. Some recovered, some died.

I got an idea for tomato cages. I wonder if I could drill a hole through 4 half inch pvc pipes and screw them onto (3) two-foot hoops? Then wrap string or wire around where needed. This frame could also be used to hold insect netting in place.

I need to get my cold frames assembled but I simply have no energy to do it... It dropped into the upper 20s last night. Hoping my baby lettuce greens did OK. Haven't had time to check them.

Yesterday morning I discovered a sick Ameracauna hen. Brought her inside to the quarantine pen. Sadly she passed some time this afternoon. She wasn't very old... Between 1 - 2 yrs. Guess I'll need to keep an eye open to see if anyone else gets sick.

Birds are FINALLY visiting some of the feeders. Others are still completely untouched. Baffling... Same thing with the squirrel feeders. They are totally untouched but at least one little (bleep) is raiding one of the bird feeders with BOSS. I'm wondering if it would help to move the squirrel feeder closer to that spot to act as an alternative?

I think these led-bulbs are mainly meant for a dark spot in the house for plants (decorative) to stay healthy. And not to grow crops on a serious scale in a cellar or a garage. As far as I could figure it out (reviews) : rule of thumb is one led-lamp for each tomato or other large plant.

so this is crazy I don’t know if any of y’all grow Jerusalem artichokes, but if you do, you would know that they’re harvest is extremely late in fall , so mine were just dug up a couple weeks ago ago, and now I’ve been rinsing soaking scrubbing chopping blanching, ice, water, bathing, and freezing them, because I got an unbelievable amount of them from 25 that I started with which weighed less than a pound, I got about 150 pounds of Jerusalem artichokes I share some with the chickens and geese the ducks don’t like them though I share some with friends family and neighbors but a lot of them don’t know what to do with them anyway even when I tell them what to do with themlol they don’t want to deal with it

I’m in zone 9b and will be starting seeds this weekend. Our last frost date is Feb 5, so you’re a wee early.

That's interesting. Wood ash can bring the ph up to 12+ quicker then one might expect and a ph of 12 is not nearly ideal.
I don't understand your last statement. I understand the words but not the point I guess. Are you saying because of the acidic nature of duck feces the soil can't be very alkaline? I guess that is possible but it would be entirely dependent on the amount of duck feces piled up/ absorbed into that area and quantity of wood ash.

you are right. my coop is small as I keep ducks confined at night only. there is lot of their poop accumulated in there so water+ ash can never burn them. I don't care about ph in my coops.
