What did you do in the garden today?

Well, I got my wish! I found a 5 ft Granny Smith apple tree at the feed store today for $20. 😁 Bought it...

Also planted about 40 onion starts today too. Sowed some more lettuce, chard, kale, carrots, and some free cabbage seeds.

And you guys broke me down... 😂 I bought a 5 tier Greenstalk planter. Going to use it for my alpine strawberries.

Great deal on the Apple tree! Welcome to the GS world.

I'm very far behind in this thread. Hope you are all doing well, and enjoying good weather. Our weather has been crazy-warm! I hung out with my girls and the dogs, out in the yard. The girls decimated the flower beds with their scratching. There's nothing in the ones the could access, so I let them. Soon, I'll put the fencing back up. But it has me thinking that the girls would love their own little compost area to scratch in. I'm going to have to do that for them, this year

Speaking of the Chicago area. Has anyone heard from @BReeder! lately? I did a little more research on brussel sprouts and it looks like it’s best to start them in August. Ok, so that frees up some space for an early crop of something. Perhaps lettuce. Then plant the brussel sprouts after the peas are done. Nothing happening in the garden today. I did dump ashes from the pellet stove on one of the compost pile. No worries, the ashes were put out last night to cool and get a dousing of rain.
