What did you do in the garden today?

Watered the garden, and then prepped and planted the trap crop squash plants in pots. They are near, but away from the main squash. Hoping that the trap crops draw them in instead of attacking the squash I want. Last year the summer squash produced very well despite being attacked heavily by SVB, so I’m hoping I can get a good crop this year too. The squash are planted in a different area than last year.

Good morning all. Today looks like we may get showers on and off all day. I did some weeding after I fed the chickens. While I was weeding I had the sprinklers on the green beans to make sure they got a good drink after yesterday’s heat. I had planned to do some mowing and then weed whacking in the big garden. Oh well. All my recently started seeds are sprouting except one ancho chili and one jalapeño. I do have one of each already sprouting. I need to start the pumpkin plants and I may start some cucumbers.

FINALLY I located some Lemon Boy tomato plants and finished planting my tomatoes.

I call myself that too! Between the hardware & the electronics I have in me, thats how I feel. I hope you're feeling good.

Beans have sprouted!

Still no sign of blooms on the domestic strawberries in my garden, even though the wild patches nearby have berries that are half-ripe.


I am so jealous right now.

Someday I will have my own cherry trees!

Clearly I need to get out more, because I am now picturing a GIANT glass of champagne and orange juice sitting on the lawn.

This is what you track down helpful store employees for. I know I have definitely asked for more troublesome things than ‘can you read this to me.’ They aren’t even going to have to bust out any ladders for that!

The place was so mobbed I couldn't get out of there fast enough!

Didn't get too much done, had some company that stayed a little longer than expected. Now a glass of wine & the hot tub. Watering the garden will wait till tmrw!

This morning I tied up the tomatoes and found a small one starting to color. What a surprise but most things seem to be a little early this year. I also picked more blueberries.

In the greenhouse my petunias are starting to bloom.

It got warm today. I'm pooped.

All the plants are in except for a few luffa. Last year, I had about 33% germination, so I planted all 21 seeds in the packet. And all 21 grew. So now I need to find more places for them to grow and climb.

But the 60ish tomatoes are in. Whew. My back, knees, and legs are glad.

Yep. I'm registered and lost 1/2 my orchard at the beginning to asshole neighbor spraying 2-4 D on a windy day.

I've had another spraying weed and feed on a windy day about choke me out of my own home.

Last pre-ordered tomato plants have gone home with the owner last night.
The remaining ones in the greenhouse are mine, with spares for people that might get hailed out.

Tons of chores today and an online hs graduation this morning.

That neighbor would be paying for my lost crop... There's consequences for being irresponsible like that.

The city sprayed Round-up along the curb and the drift nearly killed my Catawbas. Lost the crop that year entirely but they did bounce back and produce the following year. Now I have signs up indicating this area is an organic garden and spraying is not allowed. If they do it a 2nd time, they are toast...

Lot next door has 3 gigantic Mimosas. The Hummingbirds like the fragrant flowers but those seeds are a real PITA. Yes, those little things spring up Everywhere. The neighbor let one grow up, so now I'm flanked on both sides. You wouldn't believe how many buckets of those seeds I pick up every year! No wonder my sacroiliac hurts!

I love Mimosa trees, even if they are invasive. I have 2 on my property although both are babies and haven't flowered yet. I collected seed pods from the mimosas on the wooded lot across the street.
