What did you do in the garden today?

All I did in the garden today was a walk through. As I was walking to the littles pen I found them joining together in their very first egg song. Say it’s not so! They’re barely 16 weeks old. I focused on the repairs to the chicken run next to them today. The most difficult part is over. That was hanging a 4 x 5.5 foot section of hardware cloth on a vertical wall. (Remember I was working alone and am vertically challenged). There’s roof repair work to be done and laying hardware cloth on the dirt floor and repairing the door. The actual coop extension is basically a 4 x 4 foot square box set on a cinder block base. That’s the easy part as well. Shame on me but I ordered a nesting box duo that can be a stand alone or incorporated to the coop from Amazon. Of course the temperatures are a bit warm and I don’t do well with heat. Tomorrow I really need to water all of the garden and of course there’s laundry. Side note: my littles are Black Australorps. Very sweet So sweet I don’t want them corrupted by my flock of mean spirited egg eaters. They deserve their own space.

I was "hands and knees" weeding in the potato bed and pulled this up along with some weeds.

I think I can dig some taters out there now!

I'd like to thin down the overrun rows a bit. Hubby, we're going to start having taters again with dinner.

I have a hollyhock seedling that came up where the old plant was. It's about 2 inches tall. :lau

Is there a way to encourage it to grow a bit before the end of the season? How do I take it through winter?
I do absolutely nothing (even when it gets subzero temperature here) with my hollyhocks and they grow/multiply like weeds. I’m not even joking I had random ones start sprouting up in my yard away from the flower beds.
