What did you do in the garden today?

We dropped to 60 last night.
My tomatoes are slow to get going at those temperatures. What I get, I get, but I'm not expecting great things.

I can't collect yeast in the house here in the winter, which is when I've tried in years past. I finally figured out it's because my air scrubbers run 24/7 when the house is closed and the hospital grade scrubbers aren't leaving enough to collect.
Now Spring/Summer, that's a whole other ball game. Widows are wide open and we have lots of wild everything blowing through LOL.

Oh! Gotcha. I was scratching my head in total confusion.

Hot here. Very hot & dry. No rain again...it has rained once in over a month. Oh they predict rain, but it must be falling somewhere else.

Disappointing results on South Anna butternut squash. Presprout and direct seeded failed to grow. Minnesota Mammoth mum failed to live through a mild MN winter. Pricey and nothing.

Awe, that sucks! I hate when that happens.

No idea. But I cannot get yeast growing in this house in the winter. OC I also scrub things clean like an insane OCD. Maybe not enough was getting through the cheese cloth, maybe the house was too cold in the winter - NO idea
THE POINT IS - I finally got it to work.

That’s disappointing. I may have mentioned it before but I am totally off carrot seed tape. Out of 20 feet of tape planted only 10 to 12 carrots are developing. Also, I’ve reseeded the watermelon twice. They are finally growing.

I had bad results with carrot tape too. Just a few sprouted and I put in about 40 feet total. Irritating to be sure.

I heard the heat is brutal pretty much everywhere. Hope you get some rain soon. We’re hot and extremely dry, wishing Beryl will bring us some monsoon moisture after she goes through TX and Mexico.

All I got done in the garden is to put down another big piece of cardboard. I replaced the decorative gate on the old chicken yard first thing and the humidity was sauna like. I showered after feeding the chickens and before breakfast. I had the grand kids while DD ran errands. They wanted to play outside so I gave them an array of garden tools and asked them to get the weeds in between the cracks in the patio pavers. They really like doing stuff like that. Big summer project is to expand the patio. In return I purchased a set of bongo drums and an instruction book for them. Only condition is it stays at my house. (To help save DD’s sanity). Now when they fight over who gets to play the piano one can play the piano the other can play the drums. It’s going to be a fun summer. Lol!
