What did you do in the garden today?

I keep forgetting to ask my strawberry question. This is my first time growing strawberries. I have the plants in grow bags hanging on poles in my backyard. Two bags didn’t do so well and there is one each plant growing in them. One of them has sent out 2 runners in the past couple of weeks. I tucked the runners in separate holes in the grow bag so they would take root. Is this right or wrong?

I put out molasses grasshopper traps out and have caught some cabbage moths and flies . Maybe if I put them in bigger ( 2 liter) bottle it might help. I just catch them with a 1 gallon jug shake them silly ( lots of satisfaction there) and throw to my hens.
Whatever works!

I installed a new carburetor on my Ryobi weed trimmer. Works like a champ now! I think that using gas with ethanol might have damaged the carb, maybe ate a pinhole through the diaghram. Using ethanol free gas from now on, even if it is nearly $7 a gallon.
I use an additive ( Stabil) in the gas can I use for my mower and snowblower.

JBs are a problem here. I catch as many as I can, but I don't have a scissor lift to get up into the trees.

What did you use on your trees? I never/almost never use pesticides, as I have honey bees, but it's way past flower/fruit on my trees, so I'd consider using something to kill the JBs.
I sprayed Sevin: used the concentrate in a sprayer that I added water to (not a hose sprayer). Seemed to keep them off for a couple of weeks first spray ;but several rain periods), then sprayed again once I started to see a JB here and there over a few days time. I sprayed again, about a week ago, and no more JBs on those trees for now. JBs are very destructive. But bees don’t care for the trees when there are no flowers.

Yep! Let them root & then clip the runner from the mother. They might not produce as many berries if they're throwing out runners tho. Are you going to try overwinter them? Everbearing or June bearing? In the ground with June bearing they will say to not let them grow runners the first year, generally speaking. I let my new everbearings have babies this year & they are giving me lots of berries anyway.

I have a bumper crop of garlic, and I want to freeze some. I tried mincing some and freezing in an ice cube tray.

I thought a "cube" would pop out easily. Nope, little chunks of garlic started falling out of all the cubes.

Has anyone frozen garlic? How'd you do it, and did it work well?
