What did you do in the garden today?

They sprayed the crop field on a breezy day...killed one of my trees. 😠

The fingerling potatoes dried off and I cleaned them up. I grow these for DD. If you’ve never tried them they’re delicious. These would cost $5 or more (if you can find them) in the local grocery stores.

I grew a red Russian fingerling last year and they did well tasted great . Not a big crop but ok. This year I planted some early I had saved and they didn't do well
They had gotten hit by frost.
I also planted some a month later I haven't harvested yet. Also a yellow fingerling I haven't harvested yet

Sounds yummy. I need to try eggplant bc no one in my family has ever eaten it as far as I know.
DH didn't think he liked it till I made him some breaded (keto) & air fried. He asks for it all the time now. I love it in lasagna. :drool
Fair set up today. I’m exhausted, but still have some required things to take care of. Two chickens escaped. One was caught within 10 min, the other we couldn’t even find! A fair volunteer called me to tell me it was found…6 hours after it got loose! We had left a cage behind to put her in if she was found while we were at home for lunch. But, basically it’s all fair most of the day for the next week. Hawaiian shaved ice truck, here I come!!

I entered 3 veg, and one canned item into judging. Will find out results today (maybe?). Also entered two fine arts pieces - results today or tomorrow.
That chicken had the time of it's life! :gig It reminded me of a little picture I just hung in the RV:

I just fed the whole garden, except for 1 bed (got tired, lol). Picked more cucumbers & am forcing them on the neighbors now. :gig Trimmed the squash.

Resting the back for a few mins then I'm going to make those refrig pickles/carrots/beans.

Busy busy busy!

Yesterday I spent 13 hours in the kitchen canning. I pressure canned my refried beans, almost 2 flats of pints. I water bath canned a quart and one pint of roasted tomatoes. Then I made a double batch of peach jam. I got away with only two burns! 🤣 And only two jars didn't seal. One jar of beans and one jar of jam.

On Friday I started the beans, 6# of dry beans for this project. If I had the room I would have done 10#. We went to the fair on Friday. Underwhelming. We usually don't go, but we wanted our DS to go. The tickets are $25/person, parking is $25+, ride/game tickets are $1.25 each and every ride cost at least 4 tickets. It's bogus. A hot dog was $12... Two tacos was $17. Iced tea was $8. A bottle of water was $3. And there were no water fountains or fill stations. It was 103°. So, I'm not inclined to return to the fair for a few more years, at least.

Today I'll do some deep watering, pruning, add water to the fish tanks, and weed scraping in the orchard.
