What did you do in the garden today?

The tomatoes have blossoms, no tomato fruits. I think them not being watered during our week away on vacation caused them to stop producing. They should pick up shortly.

The squash and beans need to be pulled, they are spent.

I cleaned out the coop, and put the wet, soiled litter in a raised bed that I am still setting up. It has wood in the bottom, covered lightly with yard clippings. Now it has two loads of hot litter on top, and I will let it sit.

The other side (below, right) got some weathered, fine straw that was outside the coop. It's not hot so I should be able to top it off with compost and soil and plant later this year.

I will be planting the fall crops soon.

Early signs is that the Epsom salts and fertilizer combo worked. No garden work today. Recovering from my oral surgery yesterday. I ordered collard, Nantes carrot and butter crunch lettuce seeds. It’s time to start the fall plantings. I’ll get back to garden work tomorrow. I’m hoping I have a few more potatoes ready. There should be more green beans and perhaps a squash to pick.

It could also be the heat. Heat resistant tomatoes are bred to set fruit in the heat, but other varieties may struggle.

Most states it's legal with landowners permission.
I have such a problem with townfolk dumping their problems that I have to deal with.... that I try to discourage everyone 😂.
I'm up to 122 raccoons since 2021. Most wouldn't go in the box trap and I have to use dog proof with marshmallow so I don't catch feral cats.
The local wildlife rehabilitation center was told this year, by IL state, to refuse orphan raccoons because of population explosion of racoons. I would say they were all dumped here but I'm catching adults.
I can safely say they were not any we relocated! I’ve started wondering if the population that keeps growing isn’t people releasing some near our house.
You know, I think it’s time to make coon hunting popular again. Js

I dug up two potato plants today. The plants are dying back. I need to mark where they are, as they tend to get lost. I won't do the final digging for awhile. They can sit in the ground and not be in my way in the basement.
Same here, I dig up what I know I’ll eat that day or next. I still have green beans to process for the freezer. No time to worry about storing potatoes.

I used to relocate the ones at work, they were living in our shops attic and walls, until I found out it was illegal. Turned out a professor was releasing her racoons there. In the snow, I have tracked predators back to car tracks in my side drive and have caught people in the spring, So I know a lot of my population is that. I was starting to think there were 10 raccoons that everyone was moving around lol..but the neighbor feeding corn on the ground so they can watch the deer is the main issue. Around the holidays they go out of town and I catch one every other day.
