Beautiful day today.. Mid 80s. It was really hot in the sun though but in the shade with a breeze was incredible.

I decided to tackle my extremely overgrown hoop house. Here's BEFORE :



And AFTER: (still not complete. I'll finish tomorrow.)



I have some brassicas in there on one side. Keeping them alive through the hot summer so they can produce another crop in the fall. They are currently decimated from pests (grasshoppers, cabbage loopers, and Harlequin bugs). Gonna have to spray everything tonight with BT and Neem. The chickens got a treat of at least a dozen grasshoppers tonight...

On the other side is mostly watermelon. I harvested one tonight... Probably have at least 2-3 others that are ready and quite a few more still growing.

I also harvested a bunch of aronia berries (choke berries). Haven't decided yet what to do with them...

Never new the other name or use for a choke berry.
I have one here i will keep healthy now it is older than me 64.

I got seeds from a $20 white wax coated winter melon that I bought in January from my local supermarket for a New Years traditional Asian style soup. I threw a hand full of these seeds under my papaya tree and kept one vine. I cut all the side branches and tipped it at the end of my fence. I got 5 fruits to set and will prune the rest. I won't let them reach full size. I think they can reach 20lbs if I let them. I will save seeds from these for next year and continue the line until the end of time.

I won't be growing the 40lbs Black Giant winter melon type next year. It's too over whelming.

They will last a lifetime if you don't drop them. You may also need the plastic covers they sell next to the jars. The metal lids rust and won't last once its opened.

The gala apples were ready to pick today.
I also managed to pull 2 gallons of Concord grapes, and still left plenty for the birds.
And 15 pounds of tomatoes.
It's more green than fruit-full out there at the moment.

I found out that the white squash IS spaghetti squash !! It had turned yellow when I was out there Friday. The vine had also died

I haven't been out to the garden yet. I also wanted to let everyone know that if you buy a washer don't get a Hotpoint. They suck butt. You have to be careful when loading it and if you get it wrong it will leave your clothes soaked and it also throws all the clothes to one side of it.

any new generation washing machine would do the same. all of them are smarties who spin only if cloths are evenly distributed. I wish I could find stupid, old technology staff.
