What did you do in the garden today?

I bought a pack of gardening gloves from TSC on clearance. They were the vinyl coated gloves that they normally sell in individual pairs but these had some black smudges on the vinyl. There were probably 10-15 pairs in the bundle? I paid $9.99 for the entire pack. Then I stashed them around the place so I'd always have a pair nearby... Some in the garage, house, gardening shed, barn, shop, etc... After a while, they migrate so I have to occasionally collect them and redistribute.

And yet, I still find myself in the garden at least half the time with no gloves... I just forget to put some on before I go down there or I go down there with no intentions of getting my hands dirty. We all know how that turns out....

morning all. I have a few pairs of garden gloves but I never wear them. Except when dealing with stickery stuff and old lumber. Got a nail brush at every sink. Guess we had a storm last night, broke a branch off the biggest Arabian lilac I need to trim it off the rest of the way and decide if I should trim another branch. It has a peel injury from where a smaller branch broke off and I think there’s a good spot to trim it not far below that. It would remove quite a bit greenery, but I think it’s too top heavy and that is why the branches are breaking. I knew I should have cut it back more in Spring That’s the best shade for the flock I have right now. I noticed that one of the raised beds has settled much more than the other, it’s only about half full now so in theory all that chicken litter in there should be good. I’m going to dig into it and see what the status of the cardboard is. I looked up Mel’s mix and it’s pretty easy to make. Think I’m going to work on making that to top off the beds before I plant in them.

This is my life story. But I put binder clips on all my stashed gloves to keep the spiders from climbing in (a paranoia I have for some reason). I'm fighting 2 cucumber pricky slivers as I type because I didn't wear my gloves.

Chilly out again today & loving it. It was the first night without the ac on in months.

Now I’m seriously jealous!

I have the same fear, but don’t use binder clips. Usually I toss em on the ground and step on them to kill anything that might be inside after I shake them out.

Gardening with gloves for me just doesn't happen. I can't feel the dirt so I don't wear them. About dry skin buy a tube of Okeefes working hands. I had dry skin on my hands and used it a couple of times and good bye to dry skin. Another good one for women is Olay body wash.

I feel that way about my boots
We usually take them off in the garage to keep from tracking stuff into the house. We have lots of spiders in the garden and all around the property....especially black widows. I'm always freaked out and paranoid about putting my boots on if they have been out there overnight, let alone for weeks at a time.

My poor tomatoes are being assaulted by assassin bugs! I've First Saturday Limed them but it doesn't seem to help. I squirt them off with the hose. But my tasty tomatoes look rough.

I all of sudden glut from my tomatilla whole bunch of them.
Roma is the only tomato ripening so use it to flavor my sauce.

I dug out 8 buckets of weeds (mostly grass) from my heavy soil garden. I had to do it soon, as it'll be dry for the next week, and the soil will turn into cement and I won't be able to dig, even with a shovel.

I left the borage. The honeybees are still working it. I'm sure it reseeded itself heavily. Great! It can grow there next year for the bees.
